I collected it and don't regret it. If a crapload of people hadn't collected that 90's PotF2 line, we wouldn't be getting the massively-improved figures we get today. They were fortunate to release this line right as the speculators/collectors were moving away from comic books and into toys.
And yeah, CVDelgado nailed it, with a few rare exceptions, the figures are worthless because Hasbro has re-released improved versions of almost all the characters they made in the PotF2 era. Even more funny? So many people were "collecting" this line that it's widely speculated that MoC examples may actually be LESS rare than loose figures. Either way, ain't nothing going to increase the value of these figures. Rarity determines value, and there were a crapload of PotF2 figures made. In fact, I would venture that the more modern Star Wars figures (particularly in the "realistic" style from the past couple years) are considerably more rare and have greater potential for long-term value (and even then not much). But I do remember the days when people were going so crazy for this line that even the most minute packaging variations were being sought after by some of the more fervent collectors. To say nothing of "Long Saber" vs. "Short Saber" or "Boba Fett Half-Moon vs. Full Circle" variants. |

Man they went from bad to worse IMO... at least with old comics you can still read them.

Well I collect almost nothing for what I think it will be worth, sure I have some stuff that I know is "more valuable" than other stuff or it might be sought after...that's always nice to know, but I never buy it for that reason.
Having said that, I actually love this line. I recently found a handfull of my old figures and my band mate gave me a bunch of MOC stuff before dumping off the rest to a local comic shop. I like the fact that the figures look more like they would be in a cartoon or comic book than a movie.....sure Luke is on 'roids but aside from shooting Wamprats, really lifting weights 24/7 is the only thing to do back home. You can pick these things up dirt cheap for the most part and they're fun. Again, not for everyone and we're sure spoiled nowadays but I dig em........I also still actively collect the Marvel ToyBiz line from the late 80's and early 90's......so that should put things in better perspective |

I don't regret collecting it either. It was fun at the time, and I opened everything so I was never worried about value. The only one I didn't open was theater edition Luke, just because i love the packaging and the story behind it.

I regret collecting the EP1 figure more than the POF2 line. I remember when Darth Maul was going for $50 at collector stores and now you can't give him away. I only have few POF2 figures left in the package though. I gave most of them to my nephew.

Does anyone want to buy my POTF figures?? I have about 15 of them if anyone wants them. I am not asking a gold mine for them either.

I loved this line. Bespin Fatigues Luke Skywalker is easily one of my favorite figures of all time- even the Vintage Cpllection version, as great is it is, just doesn't have the same feel as the PotF II version does. And I'm in agreement with PitViper, the figures feel stylized in a unique, comic book-ish way.
Plus they're durable as all hell.

I fell into the POTF2 trap of "Gotta catch 'em all!" when the line was released. The only one that remains is a MOSC super buff Lando Calrissian that I paid $20 for in 1996 because I was afraid I would never find him. He stays around to serve as a reminder of my dumbassery.
