I've been documenting my collection over the past year or so and thought it would be fun to show some side by side comparisons of modern figures vs their vintage counterparts. So far I have done Star Wars, Masters of the Universe and GI Joe. I'm slowly getting to Transformers. I don't have all the vintage in any of the lines so not all versions are going to be represented. (and I've just begun saving them at the largest size in case you really want to see the detail)

That is a really cool idea. The pics are pretty interesting. I bet with the help of a few more Tankers you could get a vast majority of these comparisons and make a database or catalogue.

Chewbacca has to win the prize for most improved IMO. This is good stuff, and only reinforces my feeling that vintage toys are doo doo and modern toys are better.
And, I'm just kidding everyone. I can see the nostalgic value of a vintage toy. Still, I have to say again, this is great stuff. It should really be on some kind of webpage database or something. Last edited by sharky; 09-08-2011 at 12:45 PM.. |

Yeah, bits of it. I had already started my project when I saw it. Seeing the figures next to one another really shows how much improvement has occurred.

No. Not really. Many of the Star Wars figures need an new, new update. And some of the vintage are still better than the new ones. (Emperor's Royal Guard for instance) And some haven't been redone since 96-7 and really need a new one.
