Marvel's first African-American superhero makes his Marvel Universe debut. Despite the use of the older body-type, the wing accessories make this an absolute must-have and - if you can put-aside your issues with the articulation - this is a superb figure. That Figures: REVIEW: Marvel Universe's Falcon

Great review. Its a shame the bird has a weird clip. It removes believability when not attatched to the wrist. Y'know, for a toy....

I know exactly what you mean. It's too bad they didn't go with a Zartan-style set of claws that could grip or something...

Its weird how two toy lines from the same company can be so different.

I understand that soldiers and costumed crime-fighters wear different outfits but you'd think there'd be some degree of cross-compatibility and that they'd be able to use the amazing GI Joe-style articulation on the Marvel line...

Upside: As a figure, kick-ass. If I see it, I'll buy it. Also the pics and 90% of the review rocked.
Downside: Some of the wording. It was said on Wikipedia and in the review that Falcon is African-American. Did he come from Africa to America? If so, that would be appropriate terminology...but if the character was born in America, common sense says he would be "black" or better yet (to avoid any skin tone / racial implications) "American." Regardless, I still want the figure. |

Personally, I much prefer the Falcon type hips over the multi-jointed standard hips that take 10 minutes just to get in the right pose.
It almost looks like Scarlett Spider has those more standard hips as well, just with the cut thigh joints? Can you elaborate on that a bit? I couldn't help but notice in the Scarlett Spider review, you called the hip articulation "horrible" yet lamented the fact that Falcon didn't share those same joints. What was it about the Scarlett Spider hip joints that you didn't like for him that would have worked better for Falcon? I've been a big Marvel fan over the years and I desperately want to love the Universe figures, but I can't get over those terrible hip joints most of them have. Really curious to see how (or if) they've advanced. Thanks very much for the review! Great pictures. |

Regardless, I still want the figure. As for the ''African-American'' comment, some black people - if it's required - would prefer the term ''black.'' I used the former. His racial background DOES need to be mentioned though, simply due to him being Marvel's first black AND American superhero, ergo ''African-American.''

Another very good review. My only problem is that you seem to knock the figure but still give him an A-. I think too many of your reviews are rated in the A's or B's.
Id go with a B+ or a B- personally, as you said an average figure without the wings and very cool with them. I had no expectations of the Falcon and overall im pretty happy with him. Very good review and a cool fact about him being the first black American superhero, I had no idea!
