Like everyone else, since I've been watching the newly released M.A.S.K. series on DVD, it's been making me want new toys something fierce.
Hasbro gave us a pretty good Matt Trakker and I think they could give us more characters just through existing 25th Joe parts and newly tooled masks. Vehicles, however, are a different story. I think we all know that vehicles with the same features as the original toys are probably unlikely due to new tooling costs. However, I do think many existing Joe vehicles, with some kitbashing, new paint and sticker sheets, could come pretty close to the original look (eg, the Steel Crusher would make a pretty good Jackhammer). This approach has worked well for MOTU classics, which has abandoned action features but stuck with aesthetics. So my question is: If Hasbro could make an updated line of M.A.S.K. figures and vehicles, but with none of the transforming features, would you still buy it? sure why not.
i've always wondered what approach should Hasbro take if they're gonna revive the toy line. the same old MASK scale could work, given that it will be cheap to produce and sell at retail. parents are cheap, btw. nothing more than $5 for a toy. LOL and also the target audience. kids who are addicted to bakugan and mighty beanz, and others. you guys should see how they spend their cash out on these toys, rather than gi joes. and lastly, i hope they could have multiple scales for collectors. for those who love 2.5 inch scale, 3.75 inch or 4 inch scale, and onwards.

I'd buy a MASK line in nearly any form.
I think MASK is a property that can bridge the gap between GI Joe and Transformers while appealing to a new generation of fans at the same time. Transforming vehicles with 3 3/4 figures? I'd love to see it. I'm biased, but it seems to incorporate all of the elements a successful line could hope to have in todays market. |

Do you mean a M.A.S.K. reboot, like the Thundercats? Newly styled 4" figures with a classic sub-line?

A MASK line without converting/transforming vehicles would just be a bunch of dudes wearing funny helmets.
I loved MASK back in the 80s, but have no interest in seeing a modern revamp of the line. I don't think there is much Hasbro can do to improve the line over it's 80s version. Plus I have no room for that many vehicles. Last edited by Bujo; 08-26-2011 at 09:29 PM.. |

MASK was cool back when I was a kid, but the cool factor was the tranforming vehicles. My friend informed me just last week that he still has all his and my old MASK vehicles in a box in his attic. If they were to release something similar in sclae to the originals that transfomed and had figures, I would collect them, but if they did something that wasn't true to the original form I would ignore it.

Interesting. But do you collect modern era Joes? Doesn't the difference in scale from the vintage bother you then?
