I'm not so sure I'd hope for that outcome. These fan-based releases have looked damned cool. I just wonder when it's all going to catch up to them.
A better result would be for Hasbro to see how much fans are willing to do for these kinds of pieces and get to work making official versions at a better price point. If Hasbro/Takara are stupid enough to ignore the gold mines then let these third party companies capitalize on the mistakes [and to a degree, greed] of others. "Loyal purist" fans who complain about these third party "thieves" make me laugh. If they don't like it, they don't have to buy it, but let the rest of us have an opportunity that the official manufacturers seem to be unwilling to provide. They've had several years to make this happen, their reluctance isn't my fault. Now then, both Soundwave and Blaster look incredible. I only hope that the final products make the cut, they'll have a welcomed place on my shelf. Quote:
What's the price point on these puppies?
Final Edit: Just looking at the banter on TWF, these aren't coming from iGear as I had thought. So, my hoping for the price points are out the window. Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 07-23-2011 at 09:00 PM.. |

1. Everything is made overseas, via short term contracts. International laws are difficult, expensive, and rediculously hard to enforce. 2. All Hasbro can do is block the use of any copy rights or TM'ed names. If there is a patent on the original Soundwave toy then all it takes is a 10-20% variation to make this one legal. Why would they? It would probably cost Hasbro $5,000-10,000 just to assemble a legal team and walk into court. Additional fees will accrue for an actual court hearing and for the duration of the case. $100K in lawyer fees to stop $20k in product sales. 3. Maybe Hasbro likes seeing these fan projects. |

These 3rd party companies can't even put a dent in Hasbro's sales. You think TRU or Walmart are offering exclusive sales rights to these 3rd party companies? BBTS is a great site, but it can't even come close to matching the sales of Kmart. |

I agree, it would be our luck for Hasbro and Takara to shut this down due to "legal infractions" and then simply sit on the idea for another 40 years opting instead to release seven versions of the upcoming MP-10 which is cheaper since they already have the molds, not that we'll ever see the difference in pricing.

Nah...losing room...liquidating time. But I might make room for Soundwave. Trying to stick mainly with MU from this point on.
