I am not sure if this has been brought to the tanks attention yet, but I thought it is important enough to share! Check it out and see what you think...Geek Speak: the Toys “R” Us “Bump Up Program” | OAFE – Blog

Those douchebags should start worrying about actually stocking new product before they worry about bumping their fucking prices up. Horseshit!

I can't figure out my local TRU for the life of me.
They recently bought the store next to it, broke through the wall and are adding a Babies R Us to their store which has made the store HUGE. Now granted their still not 100% done doing this but the have opened up all the outer sections while they finish work on the center, and the outer sections are done, and set......YET......Joe remains completely empty....oh sure I have the same tired Mechs and one ROC scanner that have been sitting there since before the remodel began but otherwise just empty pegs for the Joes. Everything around it has been restocked and keeps getting stock as it sells...but not Joe. Which leads me to believe they simply don't have the merch to stock...which makes me wonder why Toys R Us such a big supporter of the line doesn't have merch. |

isn't the whole point of buying stuff on TRU online is not to drive down to your local TRU brick & mortar?
i mean yeah, the website is $2 or $3 cheaper, and then if you price match it on you nearby local TRU, you're still spending that $2 or $3 gas money to get there. i guess that's where most people get confused. even Target, i was looking at their website. one of those airbeds cost like $18, but at the store it cost like $20. so it would really depend on the person if it's worth the drive between a store less than 5 miles away from you, versus a store 20 to 30 miles from you.

Interesting stuff for sure. The figures in the TRU closest to me are a buck cheaper and the store is in the damn near ghetto and generally has nothing in stock.
The other is in a better area and I noticed Star Wars especially is more expensive. Cool article though, glad we can fight it, even if it is just a little bit. Then again I have almost no reason to shop at TRU unless I wanted a $20.00 ROC Sting Raider, Arctic Destro or 500 Clone Wars Obi Wan figures. |

I'd happily pay extra if my store would just get new stuff on a regular basis. But my store is several waves behind in every line. There is plenty of product that has been out for months they've never received. There is also plenty of product that has been there for a year or longer that is never going to sell until they clearance it, and even then, it might not. I don't know what to say. Economics and marketing were not my areas of vocational training.

You can always hit up my local TRU if you need 15 Madroxes (Madroxi?), a full price Ice Dagger, Accelerator Duke or some $8 Rip Attack vehicles.

I've noticed that the prices go up if the items sell through fast. I bought literally like 10 each of the DC/MOTUC Stratos and Aquaman packs for Tankers and to resell and the prices went from 29.99 to 34.99 in the matter of weeks. There have been other things with steady prices like the ML packs, and when they brought out the Deadpool set, they never had any, just the Hulk set. After a few weeks, the prices had jumped and lo and behold Deadpool sets were sitting. It deters scalping and the prices are sometimes better than eBay and don't have shipping added. I find the store on the other side of town has shittier stock, but better prices. It's a balance.
