and Deckard, i honestly do "get" your point, but the comparisons to the "original 13" are apt, because that was the first year of 3-3/4" Joe. Now look at what likely a small team at Hasbro has managed to do in basically a YEAR of the 25th line. and, i like to try and remind folks that it was originally only to be 10 figures!!! look at this list of how many they've cranked out in just over a year (compiled by member 245am) http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...FxN0zan8ceZGBQ now i haven't been happy with every figure, and the ones i haven't i've gladly left hanging. but still, they have done amazing things with a line that was supposed to just be the 2 box sets. and the ones i think are incredible FAR outweigh the ones i haven't been happy with.

What a thread Amber, boy you know how to stir the fire don't you
I believe I see what Amberbratt is talking about. The sloppy paint jobs, poor assembly and messed up cards. I do not care if they use a re-mold to make a "new" figure. There are some characters we would not have if it was not for this. What I care about is having a good constructed toy that has clean, even paint and will not fall apart as soon as I free him or her from their package. Hasbro will continue to use existing molds to make new figs, been that way for a while. I got used to this as a Star Wars collector and frankly I am okay with it. I am going to buy what I like and leave the rest for someone else who might want to buy them. Remember no one is forcing you to buy them all, that is your choice only. |

I'm pleased with the line myself but I am disapointed in re-use of molds to create other figures. My biggest gripe would be Snake-Eyes version II is just a new head and gear when they went ahead and made Snake-Eyes Version III all new and in all-black. However, its not going to stop me from enjoying the line or from not displaying my Snake-Eyes V2. Not everything is going to be perfect and that's the one thing you can 100% guarantee with anything in life.
What I do not understand about these boards are how people express their opinion and are immediately told their wrong or ridiculed with name calling. That's a great thing about a message board, individuals with the same interest can come together and collaborate to discuss something they enjoy. Its fun to see the different point of views because at the end of the day, it brings something to the table. Some individuals are so passionate about Gi Joe that they wear their heart on their sleeves and express something that they feel is wrong with the line. Everyone is quick to proclaim "Don't like it? Don't buy it!". Well, that is one way to demonstrate your feelings but posting on here is another avenue. I believe that if you do buy it, you are entitled to the opinion with regards to the product. Will Hasbro probably listen to you? Probably not. But it is an opinion they should be aware of and I suspect Hasbro tries to do as much possible to please the fans of the line. |

thank you cobra blue. Thats exactly what it is my opinion and my feelings. I aint bashing ANYONE in particular nor am i name calling. What i am saying is how i feel about and yes since i have purchased these in the past i am entitled to say hey why cant there be just a few MINOR changes to these figures to make them more accurate as possible. Also i DO understand we aint got the same economic prices we had in 85 and that companies will try to get the most out of what they can but the biggest exampe currently would be red star. He very clearly had a longer shirt over the pants for his outfit. Shows it on the cover of the comic. What woulda been the problem with slapping a snow jobs lower coat thing, maybe remove the fur lining around the coat scalking it down JUST A HAIR and slapping it on redstar to make it a tad more accurate? what would be the problem with removing the collar from figures like the viper the collar around the hiss driver and the upcoming avac and tripwire's necks to make them just SLIGHTLY more accurate? with putting a longer shirt tail underneath falcons belt over top the regular belt and making a small indention around the waist area were the removeable bandolier would go? these are not hard things to do and very simple tweaks to the molds to just add a lilttle bit of difference to the reused molds to make these characters more unique. these are things we SHOULD in my opinion expect as obviously they can be done. I mean you look at the guy who made the custom avac on this site and tell me which one looks better. hasbro's or his? my answer is his.

The fatal flaws in your "argument" here are that there was plenty of reuse of molds and pieces back in the "Good Ol' Days," and that you keep acting as though the economics of 2008 are the same as 1985.
Sure, there were more new molds in 1985, 86, etc...but oil was much less expensive and GI Joe ruled the boys action figure world. It had a cartoon, and a comic accessible to children, and much less competition from computer and video games. Sure, they were there but not nearly as ubiquitous. It ain't gonna be like 1985 again, and all your self-righteous whining is not going to change that OR win you any fanboy medals. |

Regardless of the years it happened, my comment was all encompasing when I said the old line; not the Valor vs Venom/gi joe vs cobra garbage unproportioned garbage. The old line was full of reused parts. Dukes legs used on the alley viper? Straight from yo joe itself: "Most of the 1982 series figures and their swivel-arm counterparts re-used molds from each other, repainted slightly to make them seem more original. Breaker's head and arms were re-used for Clutch and Rock N Roll. Breaker's torso was shared with Grunt, Hawk, Snake Eyes, and Stalker (and in 1983, Tan Grunt). Breaker's waist-piece was shared with twelve of the original fifteen figures. Breaker's legs were shared with Clutch, Grunt, Hawk, Rock N Roll, Shortfuze, Stalker, Steeler, and Zap (and in 1983 Tan Grunt, and Tan Clutch in 1984)." Im sure there are countless more examples. Oh, and then to top it off they rereleased the first wave of figures with new arms? This is a tradition for hasbro. and you can stick your fanboy medal up your fanboy a$$ |
