I got into collecting for about 6 months. Found a few Treasure Hunts along the way, but I eventually got sick of it. It was the mentality and "scavenger" nature of most of the other "collectors" (I use that term loosely) that I ran into that ruined it for me. There was absolutely ZERO joy or enjoyment of the actual piece they were collecting. Same thing with sports card collectors. They just want what is "rare" and "desireable", or more to the point, VALUABLE (all relative, when $10 is considered valuable). The time and effort involved vs. the actual outcome or enjoyment just didn't make any sense.
I still take a look at the pegs when I'm at the store, and will buy something cool here and there, but I'm done with collecting Hot Wheels. |

The BTTF Delorean is the only one of the TV/Movie cars I've ever seen in a store and that was only at a grocery store a couple months after I bought it online. I've also never seen a treasure hunt at a store either.

I don't collect Hot Wheels, per se. But my kids and I pick up random cars that we like. We just installed a couple of Wall Track sets the other day. Those thing are awesome!

I picked up the A-Team van recently and it rules. I've been glancing at the pegs lately looking for a KITT but haven't found one.

I found one in Kroger on Sunday in one of those huge bargain bins. Just laying on top. No more Hot Wheels for me for awhile.

I found Kitt at target Monday. Are there any other tv/movie cars slated for release this year?

I only ever saw Ecto-1 at Big Lots. This must have been at least a year ago if not more. At the time they had several.

Edit: I'm no Hot Wheels expert by any means. From what I gather after reading this website I don't think they've been doing it very long. http://www.diecastfun.4t.com/photo2_12.html A question I have is: are the Batman ones he shows from the separate Batman line or did they also come on standard Hot Wheels packaging? Also, I picked up the Batmobile featured from the Arkum Asylum video game and he doesn't mention that. Last edited by sharky; 04-11-2012 at 10:19 AM.. |
