The Joes are now 0-2 against Cobra and suffer an even worse defeat this time, with the entire team, minus the incognito Clutch, getting captured alongside Dr. Venom and the Brainwave Scanner and brought to the MARS HQ in Washington. It looks like our heroes are going to need to get Energon weapons of their own if they want to have any hope of defeating Cobra.

Cobra Commander's goal is to combine the Brainwave Scanner and chunk of Cybertron to create Energon-powered "brainwave bombs," which will cause anyone caught in the blast radius to be brainwashed into serving Cobra. (It kind of sounds like how Larry Hama initially described the mutant zombie bomb in ARAH #299-300, before the flesh eating mutant part got brought up.)

Meanwhile, the trust between Destro and Cobra Commander continues to erode, first because Destro and Mercer uncover the body of the Cobra-La assassin and discover he wasn't human, and then because the Commander moved Cobra's operations to MARS HQ to avoid Springfield being compromised.

In the letters page, Joshua Williamson and Ben Abernathy are asked about the theory that Risk is a pre-disfigurement Snake Eyes and explicitly state the theory is wrong: Risk is NOT going to become Snake Eyes.

At least they're doing something different with the Brainwave shenanigans, like how they did with Cobra-lalalalalala!!

It make me more curious how they'll handle Snake Eyes.

Nobody knows yet. Write them a letter and see if they answer. They seem to be pretty responsive to fan questions.

I really like this idea of a brainwave bomb, this sounds like a super cool unique spin on a familiar concept. I was just suspecting we were going to swing open the gates with the MASS Device, so this is a pleasant change of pace. My one concern is I hope the Brainwave Bomb doesn't affect Baroness. When Baroness turns, I think it should be completely of her free will, not the brainwave bomb. That being said, I'm suspecting Risk to be affected by it in some form, being the new guy, and knowing that the bomb is going to be needed to be tested on someone.

Kinda hoping we see them again soon. Zartan still being mysteriously absent could give them a good chance to have some spotlight, especially in seeing how they handle the aftermath of Cobra Commander.
