So, your take is that the 20 years I spent operating nuclear reactors on an aircraft carrier, deployed to a craphole piece of water in the mideast, makes me less of a veteran? Am I reading that right?

ISTR reading that he didn't serve in combat in Vietnam.
My personal take is that if you were in the military you 'served in the military', but if you actually saw combat, put rounds down range and dodged incoming fire, you're a veteran. My Dad was a veteran of the Borneo Confrontation and Northern Ireland. But he also served two stints in Hong Kong before Borneo, after Borneo/before Nor'n Ireland. I don't call him a veteran of Hong Kong, it wasn't a combat posting.

I think we're going to need to write a critique on your attitude, and maybe consult the spirit of God emperor Rickover to determine your veteran status.
A veteran is someone who served, a combat veteran served and conducted combat operations, a veteran of the nuclear Navy is someone who can understand nuclear chemistry but will burst into flame if exposed to direct sunlight. |

Friendly advice SDClutch, Look at who you are speaking to. Capt Britain is known for insulting other members constantly then turning into Victim. Disregard him entirely. Not worth it. You deserve a firm handshake for keeping our country at bay, be it mopping aircraft floors or a tier 1%er. Thanks for what you did . fuck the rest who digress.

Some of these comments tell me who drives around in a truck wrapped in an American flag wrap and a punisher emblem in the rear window.

Lol yes. If you do that you wont have my respect or gratitude. The old dude that served in world war 2 walking around the grocery story with maybe a hat or pen on his lapel will. Sometimes it seems that sort is gone.

I think that a good number of veterans are generally uncomfortable with public gratitude and the majority don't have massive flag wraps or punisher skulls.

Yeah I would agree with that. My dad never brought it up unless asked.
If your a veteran it should not necessarily be expected though either. Being a veteran is something that a person earned from doing something they felt they needed to do not because they wanted the recognition for it. Not sure how it is around the rest of the country but down here a lot of them almost need a balloon and a parade everyday.

I appreciate that. I usually ignore the vitriol but that one was too douchey.
