We knew this issue had to end with Destro and the twins making peace and unifying under Cobra, and just as with Hawk and Duke, it's mutual distrust of the Transformers that's leading to these opposing figures working together - with only Cobra Commander knowing what's really going on.
Darklon getting forcibly masked for his betrayal of the family was a nice callback to the third issue. I was surprised they took out Overkill this early on without using it to enhance the BATs. I guess they thought it would be too overpowered for Cobra to have an omniscient AI hanging over the planet all the time. Also, Chameleon appears to not just be taking Baroness's place as the lead female Cobra but also her traditional role as Destro's love interest. Not sure what to make of the ending. Transformers #12 ended with a chunk of Cybertron landing in the ocean, which would appear to be what's depicted here, but this series is supposed to take place months after Transformers, so either the object is something else or there's a massive continuity gaffe that can't be No-Prized away. |

My feeling is that this isn't the last that we've seen of Overkill. I'm betting that, when the chunk of Cybertron(?) fell through the wreck of the satellite, and then crashed to Earth, the onboard AI will construct a new body out of Cybertronian parts, becoming the android we know him as.

And then having the cyertronion meteor going through overkill serves a specific story purpose. my initial thought was that having overkill could overcome the BAT brainpower issue - so this could still happen. |

Just read the TPB. Really liked destro. Probably my favourite. All 4 were solid and interesting IMO. I like them better as TpB though then individual issues.

I wonder if they could make more money releasing one TPB every month or two vs an issue. They can also tell a better story.

Finally finished the last of the TPB (Scarlett, Destro, Void Rivals, Transformers). Finally decided a few years ago that I have enough loose comics and just to go straight for the collections.
Biggest thing I miss about these TPB is the lack of covers. I don't need all 9 variations, but a small cover gallery would be appreciated. Also think that Destro was the most enjoyable read out of the 4. |
