Not a bad issue. It's an adjustment to see her starting out as (1) looking 21-22 and (2) being presented as overpowered like Snake-Eyes, but Storm-Shadow also looks babyface - as do the characters in that other new mini from the franchise. I assume it's because these are origin stories to set-up for G.I. Joe #1 and not to re-write ARAH.

I'm with you on this issue, it was a bit of a slow burn, but I'm intrigued by the setup for the next issue. The Scarlett storyline was interesting, but I agree that she seems a bit overpowered, especially compared to her classic portrayal. And yeah, the character designs do look a bit younger, don't they? I'm guessing it's a deliberate choice to make them more relatable to new readers, especially with the reboot.

Honestly not surprised at her being overpowered. The official site before it shut down had Scarlett as a young genius level, well, everything. She taught herself a law degree level of knowledge, she "redefined" every military aptitude test ever conceived, etc.

It's kind of a shame they had to lean into the Girlboss archetype for her and make her essentially female Snake-Eyes levels of overpowered, too. Snake-Eyes shouldn't be overpowered, but I guess this is where we are - it's GI Joe so EVERY ninja is massively overpowered perfect.
