So we get the inevitable falling out between Cobra Commander and Cobra-La, but with the small twist that Cobra-La betrays him before he can betray them. Looks like they're lining things up to end Duke and Cobra Commander with Destro and CC entering an alliance: in Duke, Destro has the weapons but no energy to run them, and in CC, CC has the Energon but needs access to weapons manufacturing equipment to properly use it.

Fantastic read as always, I should've known Cobra La was looking for an excuse to be rid of the Commander, and it's a good way to have him sever ties with that group. Cobra La seems like a powder keg, and it might disappear for a bit for now, but I think it'll come back as a major thread to both Cobra and G.I. Joe. There still is Megatron to deal with after all, and I feel confident that the Free Comic Book Day special will show Megatron breaking out of Cobra La, and decimating the society as he leaves. That'd also be a good way for them to be unable to retaliate against CC right away, they're recovering from Megatron breaking free.
I don't think Nemesis is gone, we know he's a powerhouse and Cobra La is capable of some very unnatural things, but we did need a way to remove Cobra La from the story for a bit, so Cobra can get built up. So if Megatron decimates Cobra La in breaking free, Nemesis would be needed there to protect Golobulus, or to heal. But I will say, I love this version of Nemesis Immortal, and how he's not just a grunting monster. Really looking forward to the last issue. Definitely want to know how CC would manipulate someone like Destro. Also, since the basement character has only been suspiciously referred to as "the scientist", can we assume he's Dr. Mindbender? |

Well. It took damn near forty years, but I finally, finally, finally, FINALLY got to see CC take out Nemesis Enforcer. Now I just need some of that sweet, sweet Energon to power a time machine, so I can go back and tell Little Me that everything is gonna be okay.

Nemesis Immortal might be dead. Can always replace his role with Pythona, or if they have Cobra la themselves create Serpentor.

This is the best issue of the Energon Joe stuff so far. I still struggle with it a little because I more or less know where it's all going. After Cobra Commander and Duke end, I'll continue to read Energon, but will likely do so digitally vs. hard copy. ARAH, however, is new--I don't know where it's going and I love that.

Loved every bit of this issue. Wish they had given the kidnapped Scientists name, he reminds me of someone from the Sunbow cartoon.

I think this is my favorite issue of Cobra Commander. To be fair, I haven't been able to read issue 3 yet. My las is supposed have ordered it, but they don't know when it will come in. Aaaanyway. I liked this issue. The dialed down the violence a tad, and I can start to see how everything is going to fit together. Furthermore, I like the overall direction they are taking it. Very pleased.

I floated a theory in What's On Joe Mind? live chat that Cobra Commander is set during the 6 month time jump in Duke #1, that ending shot of Destro seemingly confirmed what I thought.

I think Duke and Cobra Commander are running concurrently and will have their endings line up. In Duke #4, Destro's techs are complaining that their existing fuel sources aren't adequate to power the latest MARS equipment and they need to find a new one, which suggests to me that it would have to take place before Destro met with Cobra Commander and gained access to Energon.

That image of CC firing a kamehameha is sublime.
