$64.99 which is cover price. I think it’s absolutely worth it for being over 1,000 pages.

The entirety of Marvel's G.I.Joe run had what was called Mando or Baxter type of white paper which was actually better stock than Marvel's regular titles henceforth why licensed comics like G.I.Joe and Transformers were a few cents more than regular Marvel comics.

As for the new compendium I had a quick flip through and the book is insanely thick and massive, it collects #1-50 all with their covers including the back-up story "Hot Potato" from issue #1 which rarely gets reprinted but the Special Missions back-up from issue #50 is omitted for some reason.

As for the paper it's very cheap and flimsy almost on par with Marvel's Essential and DC Showcase books, it's basically the same paper Skybound used on the G.I.Joe #1 reprint from months ago.

It's the first story in the second compendium. Probably just wasn't enough room to fit it into the first book.

I just pulled out the Skybound reprint of #1. I'm not bothered by the paper, personally, but I don't know if it might be more problematic for an extra-thick book.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the deluxe Kickstarter version of the compendium supposed to be printed on better paper?

Aw that's a real shame. How is the bleed through on the pages? Does the color of the back of the page show through while reading?

The newsprint quality was fine in the Marvel essentials as they were dirt cheap, black and white, softcover, and the cheapest way to read classic comics till the DVD/CD Rom collections hit a few years later.

But for long term the paper quality in those were horrible and paper quality was one of the things that made me hesitate on these hardcover Skybound editions. I wanted these to be the last copies I'd ever have to buy but Newsprint does not hold up longterm with the humidity in my area it tends to turn newsprint pages wavy and break the spine glue.

How is the hardcover quality and spine on the skybound editions. There's been a bunch of expensive thick Hardcover limited edition books in the RPG, Tolkien, and special collectors edition markets printed in China that had quality issues recently. Stuff like Wavy pages, disintegrating vinyl/ fake leather covers, covers splitting off the spine, and glue failing so the entire inside of the book falls out.

Bit of a weird question guys, but is the Andy Kubert regular / ‘newsprint’ compendium cover reprinted anywhere else? I doubt it, but I have the Kickstarter version on order - I don’t regret going for this version, but actually prefer the cover Andy did for this to the posters he did in the Kickstarter compendium version (and apparently it’s not reproduced in there)

I’m hopeful if / when there’s a follow-up compendium series on Kickstarter for the IDW series & ideally the toy pack-in comics from the 25th anniversary, that they’ll be added at the back as a bonus, but again I’ve heard nothing else.

It seemed ok to me the pages are pristine white but down the road might start yellowing.

Yeah I've heard those Hardcover books have better paper but until I have one in my hands I can't give an opinion.
