When we saw his face in the Marvel series, it was right before his facial surgery (circa issue 90 and the "Snake-Eyes Trilogy"). After that, his face was burned, again...and we didn't see him unmasked until issue 150 or so. So what the "original" Snake-Eyes looks like is still a mystery. The closest we saw to his "original" face was in his Vietnam flashbacks and early days of G.I. Joe, when he wore a wide-brimmed Panama hat that covered his eyes and most of his face. Don't know if we've ever thought of this, but any chance the original Snake-Eyes' face is the same as "Fred" of Crimson Guard fame? Wouldn't make much logical sense, but hey, it's Comics.

He was running around unmasked when Major Bludd tried to kill him a few issues after his face was healed. He really wasn’t burned again too bad. When Dr. Huntkinder did his reconstructive surgery he used pictures of Snake-Eyes before his original accident as guides, so I think it?s probably pretty close to the way he originally was.

I'm pretty sure the Fred series was just based on Fred Broca, the original Fred. There are other "clone" series that were revealed in later issues... the Fred series weren't they only ones... they were just the first.
