A practically perfect issue. ARAH has never looked this good. I’ll provide a proper review after a second read tomorrow.

Pretty gory headshot in the first scene; makes it really obvious how much Hasbro is letting Skybound getting away with content-wise. The visual of the old lady with a scooter basket full of human parts is a great black comedy moment. This zombie apocalypse arc is kind of an odd direction for the series, but it's also a welcome break from the usual brainwave scanning stories.
Wade's funeral is a beautiful scene; Mooneyham did an amazing job with it. Very happy that they finally showed Dawn's parents. It seemed weird that they gave Dawn a Cobra background and never acknowledged if she had any family members back in Springfield; nice to see that Hama is finally addressing it and looking forward to seeing if Dawn gets any interaction with them in the upcoming Springfield-set issues. Hope that they don't rush Snake Eyes and Scarlett back into action too quickly. Give them a break, let them finally be a normal couple for a while, and put some other Joes in the spotlight while they're away. |

Did not expect to be reading about Serpentor and his army of Zombie Mutant gamblers, but I am finding this whole storyline surprisingly enjoyable.
The artwork looks fantastic throughout the issue; loved the solemn funeral panels and the blood and gore of Serpentor's headshot moment. I do find it inexplicable that Cobra Commander is still the only Cobra villain around. I really liked his dynamic with Mindbender and am sad to see that has ended now, they were a very entertaining duo. It's bizarre that CC appears to be running the entire show single handed and we don't even see the Twins or any of the low level Cobras around. Here's hoping the combined Revanche and Serpentor threat maybe reunites CC and Destro. |

I can’t say enough good things about #302. It’s well written and gorgeously illustrated. Skybound seems to have brought out the best in Hama. Cobra Commander is looking and sounding like a legit villain again, not comic relief. Maybe he just needed to be separated from Mindbender--a dynamic I never liked. With him out of the way, it would be great to reintroduce some great Cobra villains like Tomax/Xamot or Major Bludd to back up CC. Or bring in Destro/Baroness or Zartan and the Dreadnoks--but please make them loyal to CC and not play both sides for the millionth time.
I had to google “Magkakasama Tayo” and learned that it’s a Filipino phrase meaning “we’re in this together.” OK, so that’s Multo. Cool how Mooneyham randomly signs his name on a page each issue. I can’t explain it, but I could sense the contributions from Diana Davis. Glad she’s part of this. I plan to write to the letters page, but I’m going to wait a few months as I’m sure Skybound is probably inundated right now. Bring on #303! |

I really liked it. Neat homage to Dark Knight Returns in the opening splash page. The funeral scene and Cobra Commander in Springfield. I did get a bit of a chuckle out of the Springfield scene. I will say I don't know why Cobra Commander's helmet changed between issues. Also Snake Eyes SPOKE.

I totally forgot to comment on Snake Eyes speaking. We knew that had to be the case since this is an uninjured clone. Presumably he won?t be disfigured, either. Kinda cool to see. And Scarlett is looking pretty dang good. 😜 What is the homage to Dark Night Returns? I?m not super familiar with it so I don?t know what to look for. |

Cobra Commander changes his helmet/hood fairly often, though I think we?re only going to be seeing versions of the helmet moving forward.

This is the homage, it's a reference to the Mutant Leader from Dark Knight Returns. |

It's a small request to consider, but would it be useful to label future threads about the new issues as spoilers when they post the same week as the new comic? My issues are mailed to me as there's not a local comic shop anymore. I imagine some others might be slow to get their issues too.
Looks great, I'll add. |
