Larry had said on more than one occasion, most recently today, that he was "blacklisted and out of work for years" but he never elaborates.
Does anyone know why Larry was blacklisted? And what changed that enabled him to return to working? |

As for why he was blacklisted, Hama explained, “I made the mistake of telling one head honcho that his brilliant online fumetti could not be shot for his allotted budget, and that there wasn’t enough bandwith in the universe at the time to put it up. There wasn’t. The result was that he fired the entire online department, and none of his editors would return my calls for years.”
“The other head honcho was pissed that I turned down a job offer because I thought the project should have been written by a woman,” he added. Source: https://boundingintocomics.com/2023/...marvel-and-dc/ |

I only ever hear/read about industry folks singing his praises--I never hear that he's a difficult person to work with... |

I don't have his bibliography in front of me, but is there any indication that he was completely cut out of the industry? Like, a deadzone in his career timeline? Being blacklisted at Marvel and/or DC doesn't mean he would be completely cut out of the industry.
It's also possible that he just didn't WANT to work for a while. Or just wanted to do personal projects, take time with family, stuff like that. Use being blacklisted as an excuse to step back for a while and do something you want to do for a while |

I would totally watch a movie called "Why Was Larry Blacklisted?"

He seems like kind of a bitch on social media, but I'm not sure if that's from decades of getting ignored. God knows he has a huge fan-following just for the Joe file cards, Marvel comic and Wolverine.

I've never heard anything about a blacklist on Larry's career. It's pretty easy to say something like that, but he's in the middle of the prevalent woke culture's ideological slant, so I find it unlikely. He's a part of cancel culture, and he's more than happy to engage in it himself on his FB feed.
That is an interesting anecdote about upsetting editors at (ostensibly) Marvel and DC. Could explain any quote he's given about this. Quote:
Also we shan't underestimate the power of victim mentality ideology on the overall estimation of a man's worth or value to others.
