Just curious what everyone’s thoughts were regarding this series? Especially with the recent relaunch with Hama hitting the stands today. I have mixed feelings. There is some aspects that I really liked, others not so much. Thoughts?

It was the first GI Joe Comic line I read and I liked the way Joe Casey wrote the first 19 issues focuessing on a smaller team and the mystery of Cobra Commander's whereabouts. I was a guest on the Joe On Joe Podcast to talk about In Sheep's Clothing and the Phoenix Guard.

Too soap-opera-ish. I prefer the one-off Special Missions.

I didn’t mind it. I don’t like the smaller team aspect. Gi joe is awesome as there are lots of good characters. Use them. I also like the special missions vibe but like the storyline too if there was a bit of both

Ironically, I just reread the "Hunt for Cobra Commander" one-shot after finding it in one of my long boxes.

My dislikes (and I think that is probably too strong a word) from the America's Elite focused mainly on Flint and Hawk. While I understand what Casey was doing with each, I also felt that it was a little too one-dimensional. |

This is one of the main issues that the GI Joe concept IMHO faces, the huge cast of characters is a good and bad thing. Much like other team-titles, like the Legion of Superheroes or X-men, you have a huge cast and everyone has favorite / popular characters. There is only so many pages. I like Storm-Shadow, Scarlett, and Snake-eyes as much as the next person, but historically sometimes, the spotlight shines too much on them.
