I'd like to see Serpentor survive #300 and become independent from Cobra so the Joes have someone else to fight. In fact, I'd like to see Zartan/Dreadnoks be completely independent as well. Same with Destro/Baroness. There should be multiple villains, all independent of each other. Cobra, led by a competent Cobra Commander, being just one of them.
On the business side, I'd like to see a commitment to a great art team (pencils AND inks) and covers that tease the story inside. The Whigham/Mushynsky/Roussos era is my gold standard and I'd like the artists to bring back that old school feel. I vote for Dan Schoening, who inks his own work. Atkins has an old school feel, but I think he needs a strong inker to be more convincing. In regards to color, I would actually be cool with old school coloring as well. And it would probably save the publisher some money as I gotta believe it wouldn't take as much time. I'd also like to see Larry write fast-paced single-issue stories that are light on ninjas and brainwave scanners. What else? |

I'd like the next publisher to announce an alternate series.

299 was terrible. It's awful writing. Please let the new series not be written by Hama. Plus Cobra is just no threat. Fake Eyes takes out a dozen armed Cobra soldiers, outside? Can I have some semblance of realism please. In the famous issue 21, SE takes on Storm Shadow and 3 Red Ninjas. Only 3. This comic is written for a 5 year old. The cobra casino is a plot I'd expect from the cartoon.

I wish they'd go with a completely new creative team and start a new series, instead of continuing with Hama. I appreciate everything he's done for GI joe, but it's time for someone new. Its like he's still writing for 10 year olds and we're all in our 40s now.

Personally, I?m ready for the series to let Hama go. Nothing personal, but we?ve reached a point where (especially reading in bulk), it feels like he is largely treading water, if not outright repeating his prior arcs. Hasbro, or maybe even himself, won?t let GI Joe grow and change. Even the death of Snake Eyes ended up a non-event by virtue of not one but TWO replacements ready to go. And even THAT seems to be getting undone in the recent arc. I?m ready for some, or at least ANY, fresh ideas. Which probably won?t happen because anytime we DO get something halfway interesting, fans bitch and moan and we end up back at the old status quo.

Every other attempt at writing Joe (since Costa?s Cobra) was seemingly not given a chance by the majority of the community. Oh, well. Wish Hama would end it at #300 and be done. The way in which he writes, which he loves to brag about, has only served him well over perhaps a score of issues, spanned over the entire run.

They should give me a great artist and give the book to me (or at least give me the maxi-series I have been writing a pitch for).
I would give fans something both original yet at the same time rooted in everything that they love about this property. |

This might explain part of why I feel differently about Hama than you guys. When I go back to something I loved when I was younger, I don't want it to have aged up with me. I have other stuff I can go to for that.
