I'd give my next paycheck if Hama ended it with a Cobra victory lol

This second half of ARAH we have watched Cobra diminish in power, finances, territory, bases, and ultimately be on the verge of collapse. Mindbender has been squeaking about their budget problems for over a hundred issues and their rival factions are constantly using Cobra resources for their own ends. But Cobra does seem to be on the upswing a bit now, at least superficially. And they do clearly own some of the Senate, more than just Wendy Ling-Torres. Snake Hunt could have and should have been the definitive end of Cobra though. They got BTFO. The casino thing seems like a desperate last act, and if Revanche is the only one benefiting from it then it might ultimately be so.

That has always been the original ending after 155 lol. And I explained it to everyone that way for decades. Cobra ended up with massive territorial victories, renewed ranks and leadership, control of the Iron Grenadiers, control of many Arashikage, and a decommissioned GiJoe team.

I would be wary to want an ending to the whole shebang too badly.
Ask fans of Lost or Game of Thrones, or so many other series how that worked out for them.

I don't want to see Cobra ever be defeated. Also true: I don't care for the way Hama writes Cobra these days. They went from a formidable enemy to comic relief. Hama has become woke in his old age. Don't get me wrong, I love that he is still writing ARAH, I just wish he'd make the bad guys formidable again. And since the title is presumably ending with #300, I'm guessing we won't get to see that happen. Maybe the next publisher can make that happen...

I follow his fan page and I'm friends with him on his personal page. I enjoy his fan page b/c the content is often Joe related, but I stopped visiting his personal page b/c it got too political for me. And like you, I'd be honored to meet him one day, shake his hand, and thank him.

Latest episode of Talking Joe podcast is up
Audio only podcast - links at https://talkingjoe.co.uk/ Youtube video - audio with illustrative visuals. We have lots of exclusive behind the scenes prelims and pencils and more from Casey that we have included. Mark and Tim chat about issue of G.I. Joe ARAH # 289 released 23rdFeb 2022 and we are joined by the artist of the book Casey Maloney! - What was Casey?s route into comics and specifically G.I. Joe - What was it like drawing the GI Joe Rise of Cobra movie adaptation - What is Tim?s Fantasy original comic art pick from this book - We talk geodesic dome panel wrenches. - How do we feel about the return of the Blue Ninjas - We spot a reverse Hama-ism !EMIT AMAH POTS It is a little frustrating to see the return of the Blue Ninjas but if anything is the long story of the Hama IDW era, it is the Blue ninja plot - so it will be good to see it play out to a conclusion. Interesting to see elements from this issue that are grounded in reality - the wrench that Dawn uses is a real like tank wrench, the drone launcher is based on real life technology, and even the geodesic dome is inspired by a real life structure. |
