For IDW 9k sales isn't really that bad lol.
Also completely forgets digital comic sales. which brings in typically a larger profit per issue sold, and heck it's how I've bought every GI Joe comic in the past three years. But they would most likely be bringing in a couple thousand more sales on the digital front. Digital also has helped comic book companies in that it brings in continued revenue on books, where as with physical books you sold only a certain amount of copies of the floppies and then that was it, you typically never sold anymore of that issue ever and would depend on TPB sales to maybe dig up some revenue later. Now with digital, those books still sell for years later with that money going to the publisher. If you find an old copy on a shelf in a comic book shop, that makes the publisher no money as it was already bought long ago by that store, but you go online and buy that comic digital, the publisher just made some money. Art quality has nothing to do with sales, even at it's low points ARAH has had some amazing artists, they aren't gonna throw big names on the book but there is plenty of great unknown talent that moves around. As with lower selling books artists come and go all the time, different art styles. Art is also subjective, so many folks really were in love with Gallant yet I never understood why, I think he's awful It looks like ARAH is about middle of the road as far as IDWs sales, so it doesn?t seem likely to me that cancellation is imminent?but it?s not out of line either! |

I follow John Royle who does the covers on Instagram. He says he is working on covers usually maybe 8 issues in advance so I don't see the comic being cancelled anytime soon. I'd says it's goes on as long as Hama wants to write it.
With the Snake Eyes movie being a bomb I'm not sure if there would be any motivation to take the license to another publisher based if they potentially do another GI Joe movie. They should do a TV show. People seem more excited for TV shows now than movies anyway. I think a Lady Jae one was in development. |

Who were these amazing artists that drew GI Joe you are referring too? Unless you mean the Marvel days. Netho Diaz when he was inked by whoever did that Helix mini series was pretty good. Otherwise I'd say average to poor. Gallant was consistent and I think really needed a good inker. He didn't put in enough detail for me. Everything looked sketchy.

Just now getting to reading this issue, but I thought I'd throw my theory down for posterity. Brainwave scanner + cloning tube + the looming #300 (possibly the last issue?) = the return of Snake Eyes. As an icing on the cake, one with a fresh face and voice.

Or Serpentor again, but maybe a more "controlable" version
