@slackerviper might be confusing the Cobra Island freighter cave-in storyline with the comic two pack comic of Falcon and Nemesis Enforcer. It takes place after the movie and the Joes "seal off" a cave where Falcon has gotten Nemesis Enforcer trapped. Just a thought.

No, those 1991 cards really do say that an earthquake sealed off Cobra La. I think they were just making something up, perhaps using inspiration from G.I. Joe the Movie when the placed caved in after the B.E.T. exploded.
Maybe the the reason they did that is because while all the other characters died in the comics, they needed away to explain the deaths of these non-comic characters but didn't want to blur the line by bringing in cartoon continuity for these cards.

Cobra-La was never in the Marvel series at all. I have the cards and can go look that one up if you want. Which of the Cobra-La characters says that? I think either one of two things indicate that description. Either the writer of that card just invented a random reason why the Cobra-La characters were not in the comic, or he was slyly referring to the earthquake and cave-in on Cobra Island which Cobra Commander used to eliminate his worst villainous rivals (which did not include Cobra-La but certainly would have if they existed).

Couldn't find Pythona or the Royal Guard, but Nemesis Enforcer's, Golobulus' and Crystal Ball's cards are all available on ebay (in less than mint condition).

A developing rumour...
IDW to lose Hasbro license including GI Joe in 2022? https://bleedingcool.com/comics/idw-...cense-in-2022/ Personally i have been a fan of what IDW have achieved and particularly am appreciative that (for all its heights and lows) Hama has been able to continue his ongoing GI Joe universe. I hope he gets to end things on his own terms or continue on wherever the Joe license ends up (Marvel or Dark Horse would be the obvious shortlist). I also hope that we are able to get to the landmark issue 300! |

We are on issue 287. So if they have up to 291 or so in the hopper already, and if IDW gets a twelve month notice of license loss like DDP did, then hitting issue 300 should be about in the ballpark.
