Not so much a "special mission" as a pre-mission...

IMO, possibly the best issue yet in the IDW Hama run! Loved it.

I forget. Who is the focus? I won’t be able to pick mine up until next week.

I was a little thrown off by it being pre joe team but using modern equipment. Comic time I guess.

This is pretty much the Duke version 4 figure. Really nice, succinct battle on a dusty road. When Mo called herself a "two digit midget" I thought ah, come on, don't telegraph it like that... then it seemed like she would make it.
I wasn't looking forward to this, because it was Duke it felt like homework I had to do. However, it was enjoyable. The art was really good.

Guess I’ll pick it up next week, completely forgot.
Still haven’t read Stalker’s and Baroness’ issues yet.

Great issue! I am glad I got back into Hama's run now. Best of the new "Special Missions", IMHO. Vintage Larry at his finest. Obviously, he wanted to allude to current military circumstances *in current historical years* with the unfortunate situation Duke, Block and co. were in, however, it actually fits in nicely with the old school RAH run (with the sitrep of those political events) and you can see how Duke and Block transitioned to the Joes from that point making there iconic and gritty debut.
Also, some obscure references of note: "Martoonies" and "Canada's Apothecary"(in one of the panels) I thought the 251, 252 were bland in comparison. This was a compelling, short and fun issue and on par with the older stuff, good stuff! |

I enjoyed this issue. Good story--its always fun to have action from start to finish--we need more of this. Artwork is a huge deal for me, so overall I rank this second out of the three Special Missions issues. I haven't particularly liked the art in any of them (which is to say if any of these artists were regulars, I would drop the title), so I'm really looking forward to Netho's return in #254 (and Ron Joseph in #256).
