So it’s basically G.I. Joe: Special Missions Declassified.
Too bad I won’t know how it turns out.

The issue started promising, it was great to see Scoop. But....it fell flat and felt like a rush to wrap up the last two pages. And Scarlett’s comment to Snake-Eyes felt off. I know what Larry was going for, but it just was so cliche.

Just read it. I enjoyed it. Any issue illustrated by Netho Diaz is going to be fun. Yes, it is more or less a special missions issue but set in the past and I suspect this will be the best of the bunch based on what I read in the letters page. I wish IDW would commit to a lengthy Netho Diaz run but, sadly, it sounds like this issue is his last for a while.
I know "Fake Eyes" more or less looks and functions exactly like OG Snake Eyes, but knowing this is the OG made me enjoy it all the more. I miss the guy. If I have to complain about anything in this issue it is that--yet again--we have an invincible female with the ability to overpower every male she takes on. It isn't sexist to state the fact that, generally speaking, men are biologically stronger than females. I'm all for a kick ass female, but when this sort of thing happens issue after issue with every female that is introduced it loses credibility. I said it before, but Larry seems to be getting more woke in his old age, like he's feeling the need to check all of the intersectionality boxes. I'm all for diversity in comics, but what Larry is doing is starting to feel like overkill. It's too in-your-face and, based on the teaser for #281, it isn't going away. On a positive note, Larry stated that he's feeling reinvigorated as of late so that's exciting! Last edited by stopdead; 12-09-2020 at 05:31 PM.. |

I almost felt like him saying that was sort of shot at the whole Snake Hunt thing which he really didn't want to do, (and if you've read it, it shows).

Larry's stand alone Special Mission type stories are much more entertaining than his ongoing story lines of the past several years. Seeing OG Snake Eyes in action just makes want him back all the more.

Guess, he just wants to write about brain wave scanning, blue cyborg ninjas and bringing people back from the dead. But, not SnakeEyes?🤷🏾

It was easily the best issue in over two years...but that bar is waaay low, admittedly.
Still...not bad.

Did anyone else notice that Diaz included the issue in which Snake Eyes dies somewhere in that last panel?!? Look carefully.
