Hama (or anyone really) should do an "alternate reality" type of storyline. Similar to Days of Future Past or Old Man Logan. Cobra has taken over the United States and split it up into districts managed by Destro/Baroness, Mindbender, Zartan, etc. Leftover team of Joes fights underground to stop it. Could be grittier. An Old Man Logan ripoff with Snake Eyes would also be pretty cool, although Snakes went on plenty of one-man sprees in the comic. Maybe a post-apocalyptic setting would add a layer of freshness to it?

What I love hasn't made it into ARAH.

I'm hoping they get better artwork in the Joe comics , although the stories have lacked a lot of the old school flavour … I really don't think the artists involved give as much love as they would to other properties .

It's a little sad that, 15-20 years ago, I would've been all over ANY presentation of GI Joe in comics. Yet, since IDW took over, there are multiple continuities, alternate takes, and variations on the concept that I'm a big "meh".

It looks interesting to me. I mean, multiple continuities is really the only thing that makes sense at this point. Hama is still doing ARAH, and I enjoy that. The Joe universe is SO vast character-wise that multiple titles of that same storyline could work, but even back when they brand was at it’s peak under Marvel, Special Missions only lasted so long. Plus, even with Hama as the primary writer, over such a long period of time (1982-present), things get a little shifty in continuity. But I like this idea, and even if it isn’t too original, it’s timely and topical with the current climate of the world. Remember - GI Joe was there when global terrorism was on the rise, so why not keep it inspired by current world events? So long as it’s well-written, I’m in.

I'll give this new series a fair shake, but with IDW's track record I hope this doesn't turn into another DOA title that doesn't make its full run. |

Or which side does this sound like (except for the standstill part)?
“This story is inspired both by modern warfare – where non-state actors fight vastly overpowered militaries to a perpetual standstill ” Love how they slip out IDW publishing is a propagandist organization on a campaign of disinformation. Quote:
I could go for that. Quote:
