I enjoyed this overall, though there really wasn't much about it to distinguish it as a "yearbook." Just a one off story that could have easily been part of the monthly title. The art didn't do anything for me. I'm sure others will like it but it isn't my style. Zama's strength is definitely robots/machines.
I'm not sure what Infinite Cobra is, but I enjoyed the preview. It's clearly not part of the Hama continuity as it features Serpentor and Golobulus but the art was good enough (better than the main story IMHO) that I'd be willing to give it a shot if there is a new series on the way. What did everyone else think? |

The Golobulus story is supposed to take place after G.I.Joe: The Movie (1987)

There is a lacking in the whole Revanche storyline.
What is their motivation? Their end goals? They work with Cobra, then they work with Red Shadows, MARS works with them, then MARS goes after them. The Joes go after them and find their achilles heel every time. Their is no rhyme or reason to why Revanche exists. The Blue Ninjas are supposed to be these superior robots yet they are always easily defeated. Too easily. The "Data" Revanche who had the empathy chip, or in TNG the emotion chip, was poorly developed. Why was he saving the ninjas? What was up with the leader bots tearing him down as inferior robot? It was an OK one off story, but as others have stated, it did not feel like a Yearbook. it needed more than a 4 page bonus story and one Duke Pinup. I do miss the days when the Yearbooks encapsulated a meaningful year. Cartoon, toys, comic stories, character profiles, the works. I wonder if these were on Hasbro's 2020/21 toy line up what Hama would do with them differently.

I always feel this way with Revanche. I get so sick of seeing them.

Very sick of Revanche, Dawn and F*$%ing ninjas in general. It's getting tedious.

Just in case I was misunderstood, I like Revanche and the Blue Ninjas as a concept.
I just have difficulty figuring out their place in the Hamaverse at large. This is kinda where two of the Joe fandoms (there are several) conflict. Perhaps IDW would benefit from creating a new title along the lines of Infinite here. Sunbow based, lighter, more sci fi. Get Buzz Dixon, Christy Marx, and Ron Friedman to write a couple issues each and try it on for size. ARAH is still treading the same ground it has for a very long time, the difference is, other than Dawn, no new characters to put in the sandbox. Remember, Larry had 17 plus new characters every year to play with. Now he is down to the characters he knows very well that are based on people he knows in real life. I have never been a huge fan of ninjas even in the eighties/nineties but that is the core element of the Hama comicsverse. The military aspect of Joe revolves around that and is also dependent on fresh characters to keep things reinvigorated. If you want more military than ninja, then don't post it here, send a letter to Postbox the Pit. Larry will be sure to see it then, and he is asking for our feedback, has been for months now.
