Now THIS is Special Missions! Loved it! Cool pencils and colors. I'm glad to see Sean being referred to as Throwdown as opposed to Snake Eyes. (I'll be happier when he gets an original costume.) Hama did a good job setting up the story while also incorporating some action. I think it will only get better with the next issue. I guess if I had a complaint it would be that the inks seemed inconsistent but it appears that there were two different inkers so that makes sense. Overall a great issue!

I wasn't going to get this as I never really cared for Helix or fake eyes, but it was a slow comic week for me. Surprisingly, I found it quite good.

Some additional comments and observations...
1. Nothing against J. Brown's colors--they're great--but its fun to see other colorists in these pages for a change. 2. I love creative paneling and Netho Diaz is a master. Again, nothing against other artists that have worked on ARAH, but the kind of paneling that I love was lacking prior to Diaz joining the team. 3. I don't mind the introduction of new characters, but it makes me sad when beloved characters are ignored. For example, why do we need Bombstrike and Helix when Lady Jaye and Cover Girl are woefully underused? |

Only having one Fakeeyes really smoothes out the nicknames pileup. Whew. Once I get back stateside, I will have to start picking up some floppies again.

My thoughts on the book: I really enjoyed this. I loved all the tracking down and investigating. Also, I was a little surprised to see how the Joes were holding nothing back. The violence felt kind of real and packed a lot of punch. Overall I have to say I was impressed. |

Are Helix and Throwdown the main characters? Is Dawn in this?
Edit: just bought it. That was pretty good. And the back up story with the main himself was a nice bonus. Last edited by Jay West; 09-25-2018 at 03:42 PM.. |

I was excited for it because I assumed it would be ninja-centric, but I flipped through it at the local comic shop and passed. Picked up 256, though.

I’m a week late on this. Just read it. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Hama is in top form
here and Diaz’s art is beautiful. Reminds me of McFarlane/Coppolo Spawn. Very dark story. Really drew me in. Looking forward to next ish. |

My only gripe with Diaz's art is that he seems to be TOO graphic. Lots of blood spurts and people getting blown away. I don't mind violence when used properly, but his over-use of the drippy blood effect seems a little gratuitous, to me.
It's almost like I wandered into an EC Comic.
