It would've ended the war swiftly until Sgt. Slaughter turned heel and gave the battle plans to Cobra. Then Overlord, Big Boa and Copperhead counter attacked with out-of-their-element Snow Serpents.

Cover is confusing. "Ninja fighting!" caption but a helicopter with a search light on the cover.
Inside cover...what's up with Snake's knee pads? I wanna party with the Saw-Viper Stalker is the man as usual. Keeping the new guy in check. Page 22 -Cool Breeze body way out of proportion. Wearing metal sleeves or something. Cool Breeze was another great Larry character. Only read this issue once before but couldn't forget how awesome Breeze was. I liked this issue. Good action. Multiple teams. Consequences to their decisions. Great issue. Last edited by Mainframe77; 11-05-2018 at 11:40 PM.. |

One of the all-time G.I.Joe classics. A gut-wrenching page-turner! Brilliantly written, from Cobra's underhanded tactics to Sneak-Peek's heroic but naive and futile rescue effort which results in his death. Wait no! He's still fighting, and the other Joes make a desperate last ditch rescue attempt, only for it to be too late for Sneak-Peek. Oh yeah, and BF2000 get what's coming to them, which alone earns this a 10/10.
I still remember reading this issue for the first time. "Whaddaya mean dead!? He was still groaning a couple of pages ago! That means he's alive, you quack!" Of course we later find out Stretcher actually is a quack, and SP is still alive. One of the classic Joe issues completely ruined, and why? Gross negligence and hack-work. That's even sadder than the end of this issue. Anyway, back to something more positive. The Cobras in this issue are a particularly irredeemable lot. Like with the SAW Viper, this issue shows how one can breathe a lot of life into even army builders in the scope of just one issue. "I want to rack up a good score today!" That would be the first, cuz you're an army builder and have never killed anyone in your life. We later find out why, when the 90 lb mom punks out an Alley-Viper in full body armor. And watch the Frag-Viper try to nail them with his sub. It's also worthy to note all the Cobras actually miss Sneak-Peek, so he must have died from cardiac arrest or something. Range-Viper has an interesting kill and die two panel debut here. It was enough for me to go "who is this nameless badass", though, and for Range-Viper go to the top of my figure wants. Two panels are more than BF2000 gets, anyway, as most of them actually die off panel and don't make an actual appearance here. They get taken out by artillery fire that burns even the jet down, but luckily the guys in the moped make it! Or one of them. If seeing a glimpse of the figure wasn't enough to convince you Dee-Jay is the worst Joe of all time, his comic book debut should clinch it. Dude gets to ride as Dodger's old lady for one panel, before just dropping dead from apparently breathing some bad fumes. We also find out Sneak-Peek is a liar. He claims he served with Dusty in the Cobra Island campaign, when Dusty was in Trucial Abysmia at the time. Karma got him. We also find out the advantages of positive thinking. Recoil thinks the Cobras are going to mow them down, so he gets shot faster than a Dee-Jay death. Meanwhile, Stalker has a lot of experience of bullet-proof heroics, so he can just stand around and chat, and then go take out the Cobras when he feels like it. Of course, the Joes could have phoned HQ and find out help is still coming in like 5 seconds, so they wouldn't have had to go on a suicide charge and get Recoil and Ambush killed. Nah, they're not dead, we see all the bullets missing again. They just decided to play possum and let Stalker handle things. Letters page: We find out The Pogo will be real one day!

Cover: Almost great, but Roadblock turned white and what's with T-Rat's hand gesture like he's Spider-Man or something.
DEATH OF BF2000? Way to give it away on the cover. Why does all the action keep happening at night? I dislike that Dusty isn't using his toy's gun. Hardly anyone is, actually, except the Cobras. Also. Statema draws the Mamba in that odd/wrong way that Trimpe did. Very European looking Benzheeni mom and kid. Roadblock was with Flint's team last time we saw him, now he's deep recon team? Because you know, you want the biggest guy with the heaviest gun on deep recon? I mean, character favoritism, that and there was no third Joe with "rat" in his code name. We learn that Stalker lies to his own mother. Can we ever trust him again? The Emir is slime, yet is he entirely wrong? Hawk is playing dangerous games. Yeah, Battle Force 2000 doesn't really appear. Dodger, Dee-Jay, some silhouette's and the vehicles appear. One wonders why the Vector isn't part of the air war. Their deaths carry a lot less weight, but Hama was probably so happy that Hasbro let him kill them off, sans Dodger (his Sonic Fighter release saved his ass), which is more amusing as his vehicle offered little protection from anything. Sneak-Peek and Dusty's friendship had been leading to this...wait, what friendship? Sneak-Peek, he was more of a unique function on the team. You'd think killing off duplicate specialist would make more sense, but the anti-tank and machine gunners survive and only one arctic guy buys it (Avalanche, driving his snow tank in the middle east). There's some amusement that Alley-Viper and Range-Viper are in the same combat scenario together, seemingly polar opposites in specialty. But TUNDRA RANGER Stalker and Dusty are part of a squad, too. Oh, hey, the Benzheen privates get more pay and quarters decorated with H.R. Giger artwork. Glad some commentary was worked into the issue. Recoil and Ambush pay for talking back to Stalker in previous issues, while, yes, Stalker's hero armor still works. "It's the Recon Team, the Deep Recon Team and Deep Six's Recon Team!...I mean, Dodger." (The awesome naval battle is happening off panel). Letters: Alex Newborn has photocopies of FLagg and Kwinn's funerals taped in his closet. KID, IT'S JUST A COMIC BOOK. What does the women eating the hamburger symbolize, LOUIS PASTEUR STREET! So Hawk's leadership gets 6 Joes killed. (He should've lied to the Emir). Sneak Peek's death has meaning, while BF2000's is just a impersonal artillery strike, sort of contrasting fatalities. |

Very Sad to the see Battleforce 2000 killed off, Lucky we have dodger to be alive, As for Sneak Peek, I think he was knocked unconscious by a range viper bullet by wearing a bullet-proof vast on him, He was mistaken for dead, However He was assigned to different mission after the war.
