Lots of good stuff in this one. I almost laughed at the part where Fred and his wife throw a tantrum and break their equipment at the exact moment the GI Joe convoy rolls out. Childish, but funny.
Confused by page 20, where they mention Steeler blowing up a HISS, and Clutch says it must have happened while he was shooting the chopper. That is sloppy writing, and draws attention to poor planning. Also check out page 18... The APC is drawn bizarrely oversized. It absolutely dwarfs the Vamp and the Mobat. Looks more like the ROC mobile pit. This issue also gets the ball rolling on Billy's story... Which is actually one of the best parts of ARAH and continues to be great even in the post-155 issues. Same joke next issue, only with Cobra Commander's phone call distracting Fred.

The art is a little rough but that isn't new, Paul Medding's pages 2-6 especially.
I liked the story. First half is setup, second is action. Not bad. I try to think back to my 10 year old self when judging these issues. I'm not sure it's fair to judge an 80's comic written for kids in 2017 by adults. It is funny that Cobra Comander's big raid on Joe HQ consisted of two Hiss tanks and two SNAP (Fang) copters. Maybe he should have used the Arbco trucks too. Rippers hair sure does seem to change a lot. Maybe he is always combing it differently. Grape soda and chocolate-covered donuts. Yummy. You think they'd take Wild Bill and Deep Six to an actual hospital. Oh well, Doc is the best. That is some command center Fred and his babe of a wife made in their house. Nice telescope. I love how they both got mad and started destroying the place. |

I understand and I do it too. To me it's like your group of best friends. You been friends forever, you know everything about each other and you bag on each other non-stop in a way that isn't mean-spirited but funny. Same here. We all love this source material and are so familiar with it, it is so easy to point out the flaws or to make fun of. But it comes from a good place.

I loved this issue, the cover (like many of the first few years) is awesome. I used to reenact it with my figures as a kid...I would literally take apart my Sky Striker and some other vehicles pretending the Dreadnoks tore them apart. Good times.
