Can I recommend inserting the yearbooks and Special Missions books chronologically?
For instance, issue #61 of the series, then Special Missions #6, etc. They'll make a lot more sense since once in a while the stories intertwined. At an issue a week, you've got some time before this happens, of course.

Whatever happened to Gregor?
Why did they keep a plane left at the airfield to get Dr. Burkhart out but they left it unguarded? How did Breaker let the Baroness get away from him? Did they just leave that landing craft at the island? Is it still there? If Scarlett is a helicopter pilot, how come Zap has to fly the copter? She couldn't reveal her classified Secondary Military Specialty even under life or death situation. (This is a dis at the pilot Scarlett figure for 25th). |

Hammaverse is GI Joe for me. I usually re-read the series once a year, so any excuse is good for me. I think it really picks up at 11 and keeps going strong with highs and some lows throughout. I am looking forward to this discussion.

Looking to save some cash to start getting the hardcovers since I want to get into all of the extras and stuff. One question that has been bugging me since issue #1. Who is the Joe on the cover leaping in front of the MOBAT? I want to say Hawk because of the visor, but it could also be Grunt. Which one is it?

Kid logic: Grunt figure comes with M-16, character on cover is Grunt. I think I always thought of him as Grunt. I get the visor logic too though and on issue 4 Hawk is in the center, wearing a beret, but we know it is Hawk because of the blonde hair. It very well could be Hawk, Trimpe was no slave to the figures, issue two shows us that when all the Joes used M-16s on the cover. Kid logic: Hawk is the leader he should be up front, Hawk had a visor, must be Hawk. Hawk can use any gun he wants.

Yes. Gregor could have been a great character had they decided not to use him as a throw away. First he looks cool. Older, grizzled Cobra Sargent type. Love the Ambush like mustache. That would be a cool club figure. Suit Jacket with Ambush like head, Scoop's camera and sub-machine gun. Give me the Gregor comic.. "Gregor: Declassified" . The origin story of Gregor, what military he served in before Cobra, how he ended up with Cobra, early missions and the like. So many missed opportunities.
I assume he was just killed unceremoniously by the agents on the train. He should be on the Cobra Wall of Heroes. |

Why did the Baroness have a mole or beauty mark during the train kidnapping but not after? Was it part of her reporter disguise? Do I get a No-Prize for that?
I'm not sure if the guys on the train protecting Burkhart are FBI, Secret Service or Blues Brothers cosplayers. Baroness and Burkhart are damn lucky that ballon managed to not get tangled in the rotors of that helo. Doesn't look like they ever grabbed the tow cable.
