Snake Eyes Agent Of Cobra #5 Preview - HissTank.com
Skimmed through it. Pretty sure "final" duel is just final for now...the conclusion to the duel is ambiguous. The duel itself was a tad bit more violent than I thought it would be. Then again this was written by Mike Costa and it is Snake Eyes as a Cobra agent, so maybe that won't surprise others. Meanwhile the ending somewhat surprised me. Overall, while I admittedly sped through this series, it was enjoyable to me. I don't mind Costa's handling of Snake Eyes. The costume designs were neat. Snake Eyes' design reminds me of his Retaliation costume but with more pop culture ninja elements, like the long scarf. The visor resembles the V2 knight visor but has a ridge down the middle(depending on how it's drawn). Storm Shadow's costume reminds me of the Retaliation wave 1 figure. With some painting and a cloth jacket/hood, I think that figure could make for an easy kitbash. I'll most likely pick up the trade when it hits stores. |

This figure has awesome articulation; I just didn't like the cheap plastic especially in his hands, they were too gummy! I agree as well the way he is drawn is very anime flowing i feel with the scarf trailing where he goes like a cape or smoke etc . He woyld be a fairly easy figure to make along aith the atorm shadow as well . I bought the individual issues as well as the alternate covers i like the artwork a lot and didnt mind shelling out the extra money for the doubles . The story has been pretty good so far i feel like even though its a perspective retelling of a story its a good mix up from the normal joe lore .

The whole snake eyes storm shadow rivalry is too played out for me. It just can't hold my interest anymore.

As much as I love different renditions of GI Joe being told, I'll wait for the TPB. Just don't have the time to go chasing down individual issues anymore.

In the old original Comics I always like that SS and SE reconcile and go back to being friends, how else is there an 88 Joe version of Tommy?

The ending is somewhat of a mystery. Snake-Eyes lands at an undisclosed airport and walks into a nondescript hangar. The doors close and the Cobra symbol is revealed. I'm assuming this means he's still with Cobra?

I thought the fight scene between Snake Eyes and STorm Shadow was one of the best drawn I have ever seen between the two. And my guess is now they have had at least 50 different fight scenes between all of the different storylines in all of the different continuity.
The action, the serious threat between them, true hatred, and the damage they caused was real. They weren't friends fighting with Snake Eyes mostly just defending and Storm Shadow half halfheartedly trying to kill him. This time around it seemed like one of the few times, SS was on true mission to kill SE and SE is just better. Not easily beating him, but definitely defeating him. Most likely SS is still alive. But I so enjoyed that fight and of course half or most of it is silent. If you didn't really pay attention to fight, go back and look at the choreography. This artist is going to be the new series regular on ARAH, taking over for ARAH on #217 |
