How is the G.I. Joe comic book that continues after the old Marvel G.I. Joe since the official last issue 155?
IDW Comics any good? They treat the G.I. Joe characters any good or whatever? |

Pales in comparison, although better than the late Marvel run issues that saw Firefly form a cheerleader pyramid of ninjas in a pitiful attempt to defeat SE/SS...

The few ones I've picked up range from so-so to good. But I don't have any issuer after 200.
But Hama's Marvel run started to drop off after issue 100 and got rather lame by the end. Some might put the blame on Hasbro's stuff at the time, but yeah, that Firefly arc and the never ending Silent Castle stuff. |

Honestly, started getting lame for me when it became G.I.Joe and Snake Eyes.
I did enjoy seeing the new characters and uniforms though. I haven't read the stuff after 155. Still don't know how Larry explained Sneak Peek being alive still when Dusty carried his body on his back across the desert during the war.

There are several stretches that hold up as very good and reminiscent of the best Marvel stuff (though still notches below) and then some other stuff that's eye-poppingly bad.

The giant eyeball was the low point, but it was supposed to tie into a Transformers cross-over, Hama said in the letters page. That aside, the Transformers are in the JOE universe, so they have to have some impact. Many fans choose to ignore them, but everything Hama (and the few other writers of RAH) did - and do - are canon for me.
That said, I'm happier having G.I. JOE back then not at all, and just around the bend always lies the possibility that there will be an amazing story fans will never forget. |
