I don't think Hashtag has been as bad as people are making it out to be. If you buy into the idea of the "celebrity" Joe team hashtag makes sense.

The problem is, it's a radical change from the "ultra realistic" feel that the Dixon run had. I recently read the end of the first DDP volume and the entire America's Elite series. It's very very similar to this relaunch in some ways. Crazy costumes, crazy ideas. At first, it's jarring, but it's awesome. About the time you reach the end of first story arc, it's definitely G.I.Joe and America's Elite is without a doubt in my opinion, the defining G.I.Joe comics story. I feel that two years from now, we'll look back on this series with fondness and it will become a classic.

I found I really liked it. I think it is pretty clever the way they are creating cameos for the original G.I.Joes from the pre ARAH days.
The story was dark and grown up, and I like that - almost reminiscent of the Cobra story. I don't know how well that style meshes with the goofier and more humorous elements in this new book, but we'll have to see. I have never been very into Duke, but if they can delve into each character in a similar way this could be pretty cool. The team is small enough that they could really do some character studies and development. Tunnel Rat is my favorite Joe, and while I'm not sure their vision of him is closer to mine, I look forward to see what they do with him. |

I just read it today. This was probably my favorite issue of this series so far. I really liked that they went into Duke's history, but it might help that he's my 2nd favorite Joe. Tunnel Rat's in my top 5, I wouldn't mind seeing his backstory too, along with the rest of the team.

It was a very neat idea to bring back some characters from the golden years of the 12 inch Joes and the whole plan on conquering an entire city is interesting enough to keep 'em reading.
