I'm not going to get into an in depth review for Torch, as he is nothing more than a repaint of the same figure we got in a comic pack. Since we are slowly covering all of the waves even going back to the beginning of the 25th Anniversary, we'll save the nitty gritty of this figure for that review. So, I'm going to comment on the changes, and there's not much.
First, the very noticable. The pants and vest are different colors than the previous release. Pants are a darker blue and the vest is brown instead of black. The boots and straps are a matching brown. While I like the black vest better, this color scheme looks pretty good. His backpack and torch are black instead of silver which I also like better. Tank is a darker green. Headband is black instead of red. A nice little touch is the addition of the Cobra Insignia tattoo on his right arm. I like it. Over all though, this is an un-needed repaint in a wave that without the two repaints would have been phenomenal. As far as repaints go, it isn't bad, but then again, why do we need two different Torchs unless it was a different design like the Zakk Wylde lookalike from the DDP series. That, I'd love. FIGURE RATING: 4 out of 10 EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm judging it on the repaint aspect, not the figure as a whole, as that review deserves to be on it's first release.

This is the Easter egg Pastel color version of a hard driven biker terrorist.

You're being way too kind on this figure, Eopie. Lift Ticket got a 3 and Torch gets a 4? This figure is a 2 at best. The paint job on his hairline and the lack of any eyebrows painted is pretty bad.

A completely unnecessary figure. I liked the Ripper as the color changes made sense since they were the same colors he had in the cartoon. I think the yellow Ripper is actually my favorite one, but this Torch not only has a bad color scheme, he can't hold his flamethrower well. Hasbro could have served their loyal fans much better by using Torch's entire body to create Monkeywrench. All they would have to do is create a new head which could be as simple as adding sun glasses to the Rock N Roll head. They could use the 80's gun he had. A very disappointing choice for release. I see this being a total peg warmer.
Let's focus on new characters, and what fans want. I think any figure in a comic 2 pack should not be considered for single card release until character choice runs out, both in terms of comic and cartoon characters. I open the figures, so my focus is on getting as many new characters as possible. I know many people do collect figures MIP, so there are probably a lot of people that would disagree with my last point. |

The only important question is: Are the flesh tones the same color?
That way you could put the head and vest from comic pack on the new one and gain the tatoo and fixed crotch. |

I can't figure out what the "holster" does on his right leg .. I tried seeing if I could clip the torch in there, but I can't make it fit .. anyone know what this piece does? Anyone have any pictures of showing it in any correct usage?

It is a holster for the blowtorch. There's a little clip on the top of the blowtorch that you just kind of "slide" onto the holster clip.
