Serpentor is basically the same figure we've gotten twice already. There are a few differences now by way of accessories. This Serpentor has a new removable helmet that looks like the original snake head he wore in the 80's couple that with the new backpack (Sadly it's glued on though) that looks like a Cobra's hood and some removable web gear that look like snake tails and you have a classic looking Serpentor. The cape has been cut a little differently to show more of the Cobra hood backpack. While the skirt is still there, it's now a gold color instead of green. Also like the classic Serpentor, he comes with a pet cobra, but much to my surprise, he also has a straightened out cobra, ready to throw into Duke's chest. Serpentor comes with removable Web gear, removable Helmet, removable Skirt, Double Bladed Knife, slithering Cobra, Cobra Spear and Cobra Stand.
Like other DVD figures, this Serpentor has been colored in lighter shades of yellow and green to more resemble the cartoon look. I feel they could have skipped doing this as it doesn't match the cartoon that well. The yellow matches the ribbed chest area, but the rest of the body should have been a darker color. Other than the colors, this is the Serpentor we should have gotten from the start, even with the skirt, it still looks like how Serpentor should look. With the new snake helm, the face looks more neutral than sad. (I seriously think the eyebrows are what messes up the face expression) With a few tweaks, this can be the ultimate Serpentor figure. Dusty is an all new sculpt. As generic as parts of his uniform may be, it's nice to see him in a whole new body. I wasn't a fan of the camo at first. I wanted the chocolate chip look the original had, but after a while it grows on you and isn't as much a problem. I'd like to comment on the web gear, but as you can see I didn't get any with my Dusty. The helmet and goggles on the helmet are both removable. The cloth on the helmet looks out of place, I feel if it was a lighter brown, it would fit much better in the aesthetics of the figure. There are two major points I want to commend the Hasbro team on with this figure. First off, Dusty has a skirt. Usually this would mean a determent to leg movement. However, in this case, the skirt is short enough that it doesn't affect leg movement at all and still looks natural. The second point of commendation is below the belt. Not only does this figure have a mid chest joint, but he also rotates at the waist!. Thus making Dusty the most articulated figure in the line. The backpack and submachine gun look just like the originals but with a new flair. Dusty comes with a Rifle, Submachine Gun with Bipod, removable Goggles, removable Helmet, Backpack, removable Web Gear and GI Joe Stand.
This figure is a great update of a classic figure. The only drawback is the color of the material on the helmet. Figure Rating 9 ½ out of 10 Last edited by Shogi; 08-31-2011 at 06:15 PM.. |

Like the Cartoon BATS, this one has a red face plate instead of silver. Mold wise, this BAT is exactly like the wave 9 BAT. All the differences here are with colors. The metal parts on this BAT are clean instead of the dry brushing the wave 9 one got. I like this clean look on the legs, but the arms and neck suffer from the lack of dry brushing paint application. The detail on those parts doesn't pop like they do on the wave 9 BAT. It reminds me more of a miniature metal gaming figure. The grenades are now a more olive drab color. All the same accessories are here, but this time they're all the same dull grey color that the backpack is. Only the robot hands are the same silver as the arms. This color difference is most noticeable when using one of the arm attachments. Also included with the BAT is a spring loaded missile launcher with missile. The launcher is a HEAT Viper cannon that has been retooled to launch missiles now. BAT comes with right Hand, left Hand, Claw attachment, Flamethrower attachment, Machine Gun attachment, Backpack, Missile Launcher, Missile, Pistol and Cobra Stand
This BAT is as good as any other, I only wish the arms still had that black detail in the paint job and the hands matched the arms. The missile launcher is kinda cool, but unnecessary Figure Rating: 9 out of 10 Last edited by Shogi; 08-31-2011 at 06:15 PM.. |

When I first saw Montezuma's Skeleton here, I was excited about it as I like skeleton figures and I thought it was a cool idea for the set. Well I still think it's a cool idea, but now I also think it was executed poorly. First off, Montezuma has only four points of articulation. There is a ball joint that connects the backbone to the hip bone and a ball joint that connects the head to the neck. The hip ball joint is a brilliant idea that works great. Unfortunately the neck is much too thin for the head's ball joint to work well. The neck twists more than the joint does. The other two points of articulation are in the arm bands that allow the lower arms to rotate. Montezuma comes with a removable crown and a sword.
I would have liked a fully articulated Montezuma. I know it can be done as Hasbro made a fully articulated skeleton for the Indiana Jones line. However, with this character not doing anything in the toon anyway, I can see why they made limited articulation. What baffles me though is why they didn't make him look anything like he does in the toon. It's a nicely detailed sculpt, but it's not Montezuma from the toon. Looking at the cartoon, he's just a skeleton with a sash, loincloth, crown, some straps around his feet and a sword. We got the loincloth and a skeleton, but that's where the similarities end. He has a completely different crown and sword, Some sculpted on armor and boots. Also, he's standing with his sword to his chest like a knight, not sitting in a throne like in the cartoon. Really all they had to do was make a single sculpture piece of a throne with a skeleton on it or they could have gone one better and just made a sitting skeleton and reused the throne from the crystal skeleton in the Indy toy line and it would have fit better here. The only other problem with this figure is that he can't stand. At least he does have holes in his feet so he can use a figure stand, but he doesn't come with his own. The MASS Device part that comes with this set is the Control Turret. It sits in the Generator piece and will hold the Beam Emitter part. The blue pieces on either side of it rotate. Unlike the last two DVD sets, I'm pretty sure this MASS Device part can't interact with the set's pack in, Montezuma's Skeleton.

As always, great review Shogi.... but I'm pretty sure Montezuma is supposed to wear that control piece as a backpack.

Dude it sucks you didn't get the harness either. I hate that a near perfect figure is missing his accessory! I just substituted one of the green shirts gear and threw on Bludd's desert scarf for something different. Great review!

Wait, I see it now! It's not a back pack, it's his throne!
