Ether is the reference point you remember Nas at his finest? There once was a little album called "Illmatic", you should go ask your elders about it.

I agree on the over rated part. I appreciate old school shit. I don't listen to anything played on the radio.

DZK.
SoundClick artist: DZK - DZK is a rapper from the DC Metro area! This guy is SICK. For the most part he spits horrorcore, but he is in no way a one trick pony. He spits all sorts of different styles, sings, covers rock songs, battle raps, anything. Incredible lyricist. Plus he is hilarious. Youll catch jokes in almost all of his tracks, then he has a few straight up joke tracks. He is kind of lazy, hangs out in his basement and just spits some great brutal shit. Has quite possibly the biggest following you can get without selling records or playing live shows. Oh....whats that? Hes got an album coming out and he's starting to play shows? Oh shit. Anyways check out his SoundClick site. He offers ALL his tracks for free. Not for the weak. |

Nice try but listening to an album that is only 15 years old doesn't make you an elder. I've been listening to rap for a long time and know a bit about it. Illmatic was good but I was saying when it comes to Nas I like his style better in songs like Ether. To me Nas suffers from the same thing as 50, Nelly and TI (to name a few). Great 1st albums and then the rest were garbage to me. Rappers who are unknown put out some amazing shizit because they have to be good to sell. Unfortunatly too many rappers nowadays take a crap in the booth and slap a label on it because it will sell simply because their name is on it.

Sounds to me like you've only been listening to the shit on the radio. If you go by that then you're right. However being popular doesn't make it good. Check out nearly any artist mentioned in this thread and I think you'll change your mind.
