I've been thinking about why Hasbro can't just mix in classic single-carded figures with the POC figures and I decided to do a full-on article about it on my blog.

I don't know if Hasbro would be willing to let two Joe lines compete and some of the POC stuff in those cases at JoeCon was too cool to not pick up. I want both, but I don't think Hasbro would let them go head-to-head.

Chances are it's going to happen. We've only seen the first half of 2010.
Hasbro has a track record of what they do when their lines have a major media tie-in, they've done it with TFormers and they've done it with Star Wars. Movie was out in August, about 6 months will be movie product and movie tie-in things, then they'll do the transition line (Pursuit of Cobra) and after that would expect to see some sort of G.I. Joe Classic line. They wouldn't go head to head, they'd just combine the wave. Which is why won't see anything until after mid-2010. 8 figure wave: 6 PoC, 2 Classic for example.

They kind of are mixing some in, as exclusives and vehicle pack-ins mostly.
Problem is, vehicle drivers have always typically been some of the weaker figures, many Cobras look cool, but all are lacking in elaborate character defining accessories. So these appearances in ROC are a bit troubled. Sunbow Dusty and Rampage are cool uses of existing molds, but require vehicle purchases. Thunder was thrown together without his trademark headgear! The driver's are somewhat of an after thought. I agree with you, although Resolute Snake Eyes showing up unaltered is a step in the right direction. I'd like to see more, especially since there is so much new tooling to work with and the sculpting and construction on ROC is great. Some fans may be angered to see classic designs on non-25th packaging, and I haven't read your article yet, but I do agree. I really don't want to have to buy online or con exclusives for am old-school fix! |

So far, in the RoC line, we have...
Thunder (25th) City Strike Snake Eyes (Resolute) Tunnel Rat (Night Force) Monkeywrench (25th) Copperhead (25th) Shockblast (25th - supposed Night Force) And then there's at least Resolute Roadblock, and some of the PoC can just as easily be modern versions or new versions that could be seen as Resolute or 25th I'd say the exclusives will be just about the best bet, plus there is a good chance of internet 'Resolute' or '25th' boxed sets, and finally there's always the club. |

if prices on figs keep going up hasbro is going to have to start making some ME figs because i dont think anyone is going to pay 10 bucks for a neo viper.
alot of the ROC line is hit and miss but most of it is miss in my opinion. there are some cool figs we seen at joecon but at the end of the day they are still made of the same figs we use to pay 4.88 for at walmart when the 25th line first started. its just getting a bit out of control and with as many repaints as hasbro is doing for the price gouge they better step their game up and give us something worth ten bucks a pop.
