I think really only through the Q & A's. That seems to be where we get the most milage for our thoughts. Otherwise who has time to comb through the forums. They hire people to come up with new stuff. The have given us the 7 packs which has figures we want. and for some reason they're holding out on Lowlight, techno-Vipers, and Night Vipers (although the new Jungle Viper is a definitie nod)

i think we do. i seen one of the hiss pics from the con. not the res hiss tank, but that lil thing. an to me that was stolen from one of the members here that made one an entered it in the hiss tank contest last year. we all were not sure of it when we seen the pics of it being built, but at the end we all were like wow that turned out pretty nice. not sure of who the member is, but i think he was robbed, an same thing for TTT battle damaged bats. i feel he inspired hasbro to rob his idea.

I would say yes to a small degree, like making sure we got the Wave 5 Vehicles.. but by and large not nearly as much as many on here are deluded enough to think we do.

I wouldn't call it robbing or stealing. I call it a complement. Hasbro owns all of the rights to their toys and if they see a fans work and like it enough to make it themselves that is great. There is no better form of flattery than to see your ideal mass marketed.

You are correct I do not feel they listen completely but I do believe they do listen to a small degree.

They're "holding out" because it's a movie year. Hasbro always focuses on movie-related product for 6 months to a year after a movie is released. Always, always, always. The only exception is Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the only reason that was an exception is because the style of the action figures was so different from the figures that were already being made (ie "Animated vs. Realistic"). We still don't know what's coming in mid-late 2010, but it's not surprising or unusual that Hasbro is continuing the "movie line" until then (at the very least). We just have to be patient. Hasbro has a very tried-and-true MO with these sorts of things...they know the collectors are the "stable" base, and they market to them in the time periods where they can't market a new movie. Anywa, as far as influencing Hasbro, I could only vote "undecided." We do, but only as part of a larger collector community that encompasses all the websites/hubs of collector activity, and generally only in minor ways (Duke Arms, etc...). We will never be the ones that tell Hasbro the overall direction of their line, nor will we "influence" them to change their business models and standard operations just to please us. But if anyone thinks Hasbro doesn't think about us at all, or doesn't care about us or (more specifically) our money, think on this: Hasbro could easily have not released the Cobra Island 7-packs and instead just recycled those molds into the RoC line, possibly never in their "classic colors" either. |

Remember guys, if Hasbro does ever bring back classic designs/classic waves of figures, they're going to need characters to put in those waves that haven't been done yet. Putting them all out piecemeal now would hurt the chances for any sort of full-fledged classic assortment later.

I voted no, but they well aware of what we want....
They want to focus most of their efforts on the movie. I understand the thought process of it; however, kids are not buying the figures as much as they expected. The collectors are buying select figures and leaving the majority of the RoC figures on pegs, so why not give collectors what they want? In order for a toy line to be successful, retailers have to sell the merchandise they already have in order to place orders for newer waves. Thats where this line will come to a stand still unless there is a major clearance sale to flush it off of shelves. We all want this line to be successful but they have their own deadlines to place waves on shelves or else they get cancelled. Thats exactly why waves 14-16 were cancelled; there were too many pegwarmers on shelves at retailers for them to make new room for more 25th/modern era product before the RoC stuff was to take effect in most retailers Summer restock... |

Low-Light and other "top" characters will be the centerpiece of any kind of 25th/ME relaunch when/if it happens, and the chances of it happening are greater then it not happening, it'll just be towards the middle/end of 2010.
How much do they listen? The Q&As is where most of the stuff comes from. You could go thru the Q&As and find requests for the Flint arms, Duke arms, mini-playsets, SNAKE armor and all that stuff. Do they comb the forums? Probably not as much as people think. You'd need to hire a staff of people who's job it would be to sit and sift thru the forums and taking out the completely-ignorant-useless-bitching and find the actually useful complaints and ones that would be truly viable (like that poll to lower prices, we'd all love to lower prices, Hasbro knows that, it's just common sense, but it's not a viable complaint for a variety of reasons especially when the main thrust of it is ignoring common business rules and doesn't acknowledge the rising cost of production). It's just not possible to keep up with it all. And then you have to see if the person posting a legitimate and viable complaint on Terrordrome is the same person as posting it on HISS Tank. Because then instead of it being 2 people with the same "beef", it's really only one. So no, they don't sift thru the forums reading it all. I'm sure that someone goes thru the main sites every couple of days and just looks as some of the main posts to get a general idea of how the fandom is thinking. But remember, all the internet posters, we're still a VERY VERY VERY small chunk of the demographic that Hasbro is trying to reach with their toys.
