My son just turned 8 and I tried to explain things to him, but he was so angry at the wolverine origins movie (he loudly commented on all the continuity errors durring the movie.)
His point of view are that Duke, ripcord, breaker, Hawk, look nothing like any of their other incarnations. He thinks they should have given them different names. I have a Final tonight, but this weekend I will help him write his letter and I'll add it to this thread. I have to side with my son though, even different versions of Superman, like the dead beat dad one from the Singer movie, are garbage. Continuity is our friend.

Too cool. I've noticed that children have the tendency to point out the obvious flaws that we as adults are unaware of or at least do not care for.
Nice story.

I think it's awesome your son like the vintage joe stuff better. But I think a point we all have to consider is that majority of kids now a days, don't have exposure to the joe brand we grew up with.
I don't mind kids liking the RoC line but I do wish they got to know the joes that we grew up with. |

It seems kind of silly to me for anyone to compare Superman to GI Joe. I mean, at least with Superman, the character origin/backstory and costume don't change every few years. The same can't be said for GI Joe which changes character backgrounds and costumes all the friggen time.

it's probably time to sign up the tot for little league and move him away from toys if he takes them that seriously.

are we to believe the child came to this conclusion on his own and isn't simply repeating what he has heard his father say to make him happy, which is something very common with children? the fact that old papa is proud of his son reveals his own position on the matter and it is more likely than not he is just repeating proud ol' dad's own position. essentially, daddy is proud that his son can repeat his own feelings and seeks his dady's approval.
that's very sad. nothing makes me happier than seeing my daughter think and act on her own. the last thing I want her to be is me. |
