Sorry. I totally want to love this GI Joe, but with the trailers I kept thinking "what does this remind me of?". Unfortunately I remembered. I was checking out the soundtrack listings and there's a track called "Final Battle". If Cobra says this (just like Skeletor) it'll be too crazy!

You know what ROC reminds me of? An enjoyable movie based on characters and a universe that I have enjoyed for 25 years. And I have the cajones to admit that I will pay Hasbro and Paramount for their hard work. It may not be the box office smash that ROTF is, but it will certainly make enough money to warrant a sequel. I cannot wait to read the posts that pop up after the movie is released.

As many of you are I am extremely disappointed with the movie (based on the trailers and media coverage). Now taking the devils advocate role, we know that unfortunately not very many movies have been made for the fans. Hasbro is attempting to market a new generation and not focus on the main target market (the fans) probably the marketing department has charts, graph and numbers that will prove this. Could they have done a better job at casting, characters, costumes, story lines, vehicles... absolutely. Are they trying to reinvent a product that could be difficult to market in this day and age, absolutely. I guess is just like marvel and DC comics blowing up their universes and recreating them, trying to keep characters/ brand alive.
Now, I'm I excited that finally they came out with a long awaited live action GI Joe film, sure, Am I ready to camp out opening night, absolutely not. I personally feel that the movie will attract the target market Hasbro was shooting for and that is the 7 & up range in hopes that they could be another generation growing up with GI Joe. I am extremely disappointed that they decided to make it a world police team and not A Real American Hero, I'm disappointed that they are wearing Power Ranger suits and that CC is waring a Tupperware freezer bowl as a mask, I'm disappointed that the romantic involvement is not between Scarlett and Snake Eye or even Duke, but with Ripcord. There are some many things that could have been done differently to meet the expectations of the long time fans and still hit the proposed target market. I guess the proof is in the pudding. We might have to wait and see the outcome after opening night and determine if this was a smart move or chuck it to experience and in a couple of years re created, just like the Hulk and Batman. Will see, to all of you out there PISSED OFF and all of you out there anxiously awaiting it and those of you out there that don't give a flip about the flick, it's OK. There are multiple universes and we can say this is one them. YO, Joe |

ok, so now that the movie is out, who is still hating on it, who loves it?
I personally thought it was an absolute disaster of a movie. Not because it strayed from cannon joe-verses, it was just a bad movie. I felt like I was watching something that came out of film school....with a million dollar budget. The script was horrible, the story was extremely hokey, the acting was terrible.... furthermore it seemed like the writers thought that Deus Ex Machina was something new that no one had ever seen before and used it to death...brought it back and used it again. same with the flashbacks. I wish i had 6 hands so I could give it more thumbs down. oh...and other than that last little bit of dialogue I did kinda like Storm Shadow the best.

I hate it - but not because it didn't follow any previous version of Joe that I know (hey that rhymed!), but because the movie was of a low quality IMHO.
God, I can still hear Tatum's monotone in my brain. |

yeah, that was one of the worst acting performances I have ever seen.
now that I think about it the acting in general reminded me of one of those really bad old '50s sci fi movies. Y'know, like the ones where the real actor died during filming so they got the directors wife's chiropracter to fill in. oh yeah, what was up with the random Ripcord touching another dude's head for no apparent reason to comment on his life like hair? Of course he has life like hair....its his real hair.

still haven't seen it, still don't plan to. after the release, i overheard more spoilers that are dumber than what i'd heard before. i don't monetarily support things that look like crap, regardless of what they are. and i'm not planning to waste two hours of my life on a movie that just looks bad.
i've seen too many good action films to buy the tired "turn your brain off" argument. and tell the "kids today are more sophisticated and demand more" to my nephew, who loves the old cartoon and has started reading the comics. i'll wait and catch ponyo or inglourious basterds instead. the steel crusher toy is sweet, though.
