so today was a busy day for me. with the idea of creating my modern Joe Navy still burning in my head i set out for the closest tru, target & walmart.
Newark, DE TRU- i walk in and find that they have the 2 for 9.99 sale. score! got 1 deep six, 2 stones, 2 breakers & 3 shipwrecks Newark, DE Kmart- nothing Dover, DE Target- nothing Dover, DE TRU- sea command 3pack get home and check the forums; see that some targets are price matching TRU sale. call Wilmington, DE Target to verify- yes. Back to Newark TRU to get copy of ad. THEY DONT HAVE ANY! customer service woman won't give me her's- says she needs it. i was like "but you close in an hour". wouldnt budge. so i asked her to check for pit commandos which is all i wanted anyway- didnt have any. go back home again. see neighbor, ask him if he has copy of ad from paper- says he took papers to recycle. 10 minutes later he comes over and says he found it after all. i thank him and head for Wilmington Target only to find they dont have any pit commandos either. little bummed but happy with what i got- good start for my team. I already have a Torpedo from a lot i won on ebay awhile ago- was gonna repost it cuz i wasnt doing modern but i'll keep him now. |

I'm using Scuttlebutt for my Communications Officer ("Chris" head from Broken Arrow on comic pack Shippy) and I like Barnacle too. What about a name for the last Seal? I really like the "surfer dude" head at BA and if I use that I'm thinking maybe Kahuna as a nod to the team leader in the SOCOM: US Navy Seals video games. I just ordered some heads this morning- enough to do the 4 seals and topside. cant wait for them to get here. |

Here's a preliminary look at the design for the Viper Officer:
Always wondered what the "V" on the Cobra Officer helmet stood for... I took some liberties and just conflated the "regular" Cobra troopers and the Vipers into one unit collectively known as the Vipers. With my reference bible, I'll be breaking down the rank and file as follows: - Vipers: infantry-trained & military parachuting-qualified military contractors... includes Viper Officers (unit leaders), Vipers (riflemen), SAW-Vipers (automatic riflemen), Range-Vipers (designated marksmen), Frag-Vipers (grenadiers)... think of them as being equivalent to the Army's Rangers or the 82d Airborne - Crimson Guards: Paramilitary/civilian project managers... think of them as Cobra's version of USSOCOM's PSYOPS/Civil Affairs special operations-capable units - Eels: military contractors trained in amphibious operations (think of them as being equivalent to the DoD's combat swimmers... SEALs, Navy EOD, MARSOC combat divers, etc.) My idea is that Cobra hires ex-military guys, so they don't have to spend a lot of capital on training their personnel up to contemporary military standards. They're a tightly run company, after all, and what better way to save money than by having your employees trained on someone else's dime. |

So how will Cobra integrate the different trainings of the various people they hire? Get 'em from all over the world, how are they cross-trained to work together?
