What about a college student working part time earning minimum at Barnes and Noble who gets sick and has to pay for medication? He or she then has to tap into his or her student loans and personal checking account that he or she is saving to use for next semester's tuition in order to pay for medication. Worse yet what if they get into an accident and have to be hospitalized and undergo operations?
To repeat what facehammer just said, let's hope you don't have to undergo any operations or treatment for a disease that your health unsurance refuses to cover you for because the execs of your insurance company in all their benevolent wisdom considers the condition as "preexisting. Healthcare is not a status to be flaunted around like a car, it should not be purchased like the latest GI Joe, healthcare like breathing is a fundamental human right. Period.

Single-payer health care would only work if their was no beauracratic organization or corrupt politicians running it. That will never, ever happen in the US.

I agree. Here in Canada we have more than our fair share of lobbyists as well. It's downright scary.
The US empire is basically over. The politicians just haven't realized it yet. Honestly, the US is full of citizens with the genius, the know-how and forward-thinking to really put the US on another level. All that money spent to prop up what is basically a dying empire could be directed elsewhere, for the better of the citizens. So many americans need health care, they need better jobs, they need a lot of things. A lot of that money could be put to better use at home, instead of weapons and war. By the way every US citizen is a lobbyist. A professional lobbyist is some one who lobbies for someone else for profit.

Not sure if you knew but her post was a quoted article I believe, so it wasn't her trying to make a point. Are you trying to say that moving towards socialism means becoming fascist? Not sure why else you'd point that out.

Most countries have little to no military budget as they rely on their allies (US) to defend themselves. Which means more money for cleaner water and better infrastructures
I ignore all anti-american rhetoric as it is all BS and I respect and admire all the soldiers around the world risking their lives for us.

Regardless of how I feel about our policy, I certainly feel the same. Mad respect.
