It was in issue #33 or 34. The Original 13(minus Snake Eyes) became the Admin of the new Pit. Ripcord and Lady Jaye were introduced as replacements. I thought it was odd because they never did it again(but it can be assumed it was done behind the scenes). The only time it was mentioned after #35(?) was an issue of SM that Zap said how good it was to be active again.

What I always wondered about is public knolege of the Joe team- some issues they were a classified unit but others made mention of them as members of the Joes. |

Just found my issue #108, and it says, "Snake Eyes is entitled to wear: Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with two palms, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct, National Defese, RVN Campaign, RVN Service, and RVN Cross of Gallantry. He is also entitled to wear: Combat Infantryman's badge, Airborne JumpWings, and the Ranger's Shoulder Flash." We can't see much of his "fruit salad" in this particular issue, but what's interesting to note is that he has a "G.I. Joe" patch on his left shoulder, as seen on pg. 4.

It was illegal but very benifical for the team, Hawk even going so far as telling Gen Austin he almost counted on Ripcord doing it.
What I always wondered about is public knolege of the Joe team- some issues they were a classified unit but others made mention of them as members of the Joes. I think when Cobra became a nation and got the Consulate building, the Joes became a little more public. I think it's kind of like Delta Force now. We know they exist, but they're still classified (don't know missions, operatives, etc..).

I'm trying to think of who are the non-dead Joes who probably have Purple Hearts. based on the Comics
Snake-Eyes Stalker Scarlett Gung-Ho Snow-Job Wild-Bill Rip-Cord? Beachhead Repeater Dart I'm sure there are way more but that's all I can remember who may have taken a bullet and lived. |

Snake Eyes and Stalker are wounded too much to keep track of, but it's safe to say they'd both have Purple Hearts with oak leaf clusters (based on the criteria from Wikipedia).
Steeler, Breaker, Short Fuse, and Grand Slam were all injured (off-camera) in issue #11. Deep-Six is wounded in issue #28 by a Rattler. Duke and Cutter take injuries as well, as I recall. Airborne and Spirit are both injured in #31 (along with Snake Eyes). Rock n Roll, Clutch and Breaker are all injured while on leave in #35, but it is against the enemy, so it might qualify. Deep Six gets hurt again in #36. Duke and Lady Jaye buoth take gunshots in #38. Rip-Cord gets injured in #45, but I don't know if that counts since he was essentially AWOL. Recondo and Scarlett are both injured (off-camera) in issue #50. Flint gets the crap kicked out of him by Eels in issue #53 - not sure if that one counts. Quick Kick and Snow job are both shot in issue #61. Crankcase gets blown up in issue #75. Both Repeater and Muskrat get shot in #86. (I stopped around here as it's not long after that things went ninja crazy - I know there are more, though, like Roadblock's wound during a later mission with the Oktober Guard) Leatherneck and Wild Bill are both shot in Special Missions #4. Lightfoot gets the crap beat out of him in SM #13. Lift Ticket, Lifeline and Muskrat are injured in SM #19 by a Hind. Lady Jaye gets shot in SM #22. Hit 'n' Run and Tunnel Rat both get shot in SM #23. I left out lots of fist fights since I doubt they'd qualify, even if in combat.

Low-Light is shot in DDP.
Chuckles is KIA in DDP, along with Flash and Mainframe. I can't remember anyone else.

That's right prior to the Snake Eyes trilogy, as I recall (or maybe at the end of it). I didn't go that far since the stories stop making sense before then.
