It frustrates me so when people say things like it looks like a good "mindless/action/popcorn/summer" movie as if when Hasbro first came out with the word that they'd be making a LIVE ACTION GI Joe film, that's all you really wanted from them... a good enough, hour-and-a-half *thing*.
I know - to some fans - GI Joe might not be a subject worthy of deep thought, but we at least have to admit it can be made into a better story that "GI Joe good guys fights Cobra because they're bad" At no point during Resolute did I say "Well, it's a good anime, so I guess I could like it on that level." I loved every minute because it took a simple concept and made it exciting and kept you watching. I shouldn't have to legitimize this film. I shouldn't have to excuse it. I shouldn't have to lower my standards to the point it could be called "World Army Against Progressive Terrorists" and I wouldn't be the wiser. I should be able to hold this movie up to all the people who ever scoffed at the idea of being a Joe fan past the age of eight and say "Look - See?" but instead, I'd encourage people to just look away. >: / Tom |

Ok i've pretty much have had enough of the so called hardcore fans smashing the movie and then trying to smash other fans who do find the trailer pretty cool and are waiting for what looks to be a very fun action flick. I grew up on gi joe so don't try and give me this your a true fan crap. At first i started hating everything i was first hearing about the film. Now that ive seen the teaser and now the trailer i have to say i'm getting pretty excited about the movie. This won't be anything like the the comic i grew up with fo rthe most part but i can excpet that since that just wouldn't work now. period. We haven't seen the movie to judge the characters enough to see if they are like they should be. Just becuase they put on some power suits doesn't mean they are different characters. I want to see more before i throw it under the bus.

It took quite a few iterations of Batman movies before they got it "right" with the fans. Let's hope the movie does well enough to warrant a "right with the fans" sequel(s).

I had huge hopes when I first saw the first leaked logo a few years back, but they have oustandingly epically and utterly failed to impress me enough to keep my hopes high enough that this can remotley be salvaged. I have no issues with people wanting to like it or say they do, it becomes an issue when others tell me to "just accept it the way it is" and just "like it cause its a movie", no if I took that stance sure call it Rise of Sigma 6 Exo Squad and not GI JOE. Tell it like it is instead of pawning it off as really GI JOE. If this was a true live action film of modern/future warriors no matter if it was 100 years into the future I could just turn on the History channel and watch future weapons or SWAT/SEAL traning camps and get a better interpretation of future combat on a much lower scale budget and they would get it right sheesh. Just put Joes in a green/black BDUs and put Cobra in Red/White/Blue/Green/Grey and Black Russian Camo and give each an AK-47 and call it Red Dawn 2.....in a silly way I would be a lot more excited about that! Wow, that was a lot of CG. Was like watching a cartoon. It just doesn't feel like G.I. Joe and Cobra to me. It's like Sigma Six: The Movie (only with less RAH influence).
Imagine if they made a live action Thundercats movie and the characters were all wearing power suits of some kind that enhanced their abilities. Why? WHY? That's how I feel about all this. Of course they did have such suits in the Sigma Six incarnation of G.I. Joe but why out of all the versions of G.I. Joe is THAT the version they decided to use? Seems Hasbro put too much faith in Sigma Six. If only this film were just now going into production with the 25th and Resolute stuff on the toy shelves. |

This is not meant to be cruel or hateful in any way, but have you even read the comics? These last two are not at all right to the batman story. As much as I really don't like Tim Burton his are the closest for live action. But if you really want to get it right the Bruce Timm cartoons for the animated series in the 90's and the justice league are the closest to the comics. They are great stories you should really read them sometime. I'd say start with the long halloween or killing joke. Hell even the real dark knight story. Honestly great books. But if you read them you will not like the movies anymore.

i love gi joe and the comic. After seeing the trailer I felt the excitment of gi joe in the 21st century. Its never gonna be the same 80's toys i grew up with but at the same time I never been so exciting to watch this movie. The accelerater suits and cobra commander outfit would never existed if this movie was made in the 90's but at the same time with all the cgi that goes into movies nowadays im glad it came out now. I just hope the acting and dialogue makes up for the costume designs. Anyways that's my two cents. I cant wait.

Hey B.G. the suits and bad CC costume would be in it if they made the movie in the 90's too. Remember the bad He-man movie. Trust me hollywood can really screw things up good as they did with this. Also they had to tech to do these FX's ten years ago. But hey if I want characters, story, good ninja fights and G.I. Joe I can always watch Resolute for FREE.

Oh yeah... Frank Miller is overrated... his new stuff is dreadful... "I'm the g*ddamn Batman!"... Thought I'd throw that in! Now back to our regularly schedule Joe bashing... |
