I don't think 21st is coming back from anywhere.

Well, to be fair 21st never really marketed their stuff to the kids.
Also the 16 and 18 came out before everyone started doing opening access panels and gun doors on their birds, though the static ailerons and such may be inexcusable depending on your tolerance for such things. |

Somebody needs to fill the void... Bravo Team has potential, but they would need to pick up the detail and functionality a bit. They'd also need to move past just the ground pounders into rotary and fixed wing.
There's definitely a market, but is it sustainable? |

It's a shame, though. That leaves Unimax and Bbi. Bbi is a 1-2 item a year deal, and you never know what Unimax is actually gonna produce from one minute to the next.
Love to see them scale-up that UH-1D of theirs. |

I think that is the biggest question. FoV seems to have shifted focus exclusively to the modern era now, so a modern birds, some of the biggest planes in history would be crazy to produce in 1:18. Tooling, storage, and shipping I'm sure are all concerns for them. Retailers are nervous about shelf space. BBi did it the best in my opinion, but who knows what we'll see. Just support FoV and who knows what we'll see.

The bbi birds are so big and heavy, I am glad they do not have movable surfaces. How often do you adjust the control surfaces on your 21c planes? They make for nice detail, but are just something that can break or they droop out of position when hanging. Great on smaller birds, but would be a real hassle on the big ones.
And without ground crew and maintenance equipment i don't need opening gun bays either. |

Yeah I am surprised neither of the companies ever created ground crews for their planes (WWII/Vietnam/Modern). I am sure they would have sold a bit, especially the 21st ones.

21st had enough WWII birds to justify specialized ground crews. With the Vietnam stuff you could probably get away with stripping off most of the gear from infantry figures and using them as maintenance.
s'alright though, if you're using these for Joe purposes there are plenty of blue and greenshirts to work with. |

so after got home yesterday, i saw my brother playing "battlefield bad company" (a 1st person shooter) He had just landed in a blackhawk and i noticed the the fuel tanks were higher up near the rotors, not on a wing. Is that what the newer blackhawks do or was that just a variant a/b/c model. you could walk around the helo in the game, it was pretty cool as the MG had a SAW. I also read up on wiki about the cobra gunship, UH-1Z indeed.
