True, but to be fair, the Extreme Weather packs were mostly figures and kitbashes of figures we'd already gotten, or who by the time the packs actually hit we knew we'd be getting elsewhere (Scrap Iron). About the only "high demand" figure in the set was a "classic" Major Bludd. One figure isn't often enough to get folks to shell out $30 for a whole set of other figures they don't want.
These sets, on the other hand, are almost entirely new figures, and aren't likely to be available through other means anytime soon. While I don't know that they'll sell out as fast as some people are thinking/fearing (especially depending on how many are being made), I do think they'll sell better than the Extreme Conditions packs. My point being Every new something in Joe is always said to sell out.....When its just not true.... |

There aren't any completely new molds, but there is plenty of new molding. Headsculpts at the very least, and likely accessories as well.
The Extreme Conditions packs had zero new molding that wasn't used somewhere else, and zero characters that weren't available anywhere else. These packs are a considerably different animal. Plus, we don't know what the production on them will be. If they keep it low/conservative, these could sell out rather quickly. |

New Head molds will make them sell out? Dude go look at the old news section and read about the old 7 packs.....same kind of threads the new 7 pack is getting (More than 1) it had....people had threads about pre orders and how many you were going to buy threads...The thing is...Ive heard it before just different product......I still say these wont sell out.... Nevermind that my original post on the subject was actually mostly AGREEING that they wouldn't necessarily "sell out instantly" as some people were claiming, but that they would in fact sell better than the Extreme Conditions packs that you had drawn a direct parallel to when it's really a rather different product aside from the number of figures involved and "online exclusive" (we think) status. Nice how you also conveniently ignored the potential short supply issues. Hasbro doesn't seem to be too keen on producing 25th Anniversary stuff in the ramp-up for the movies. These sets very well may end up being underproduced because of that. Unless these figures already had "full runs" before the retailers backed out and Hasbro is repacking them as an emergency measure. Any idea when you'll be listing the preorder for the GI Joe 7-packs revealed recently?

Yeah, but it appears like they jumped the gun and listed them without any official confirmation from Hasbro as to how these things would be available, what they cost, etc....
Maybe Hasbro's going to limit them to certain e-tailers, or even a single e-tailer. Or maybe an actual brick and mortar retailer took interest in the sets once they were unveiled and want them for an exclusive of their own. Nobody really knows yet. Last edited by Jmacq1; 02-24-2009 at 11:48 AM.. |
