I've never had any issue with them though. However, I used to boil-n-pop the legs on early releases and sand the spikes down on the hip balls. The only part of Drops that really bug me is being occasionally loose. Like my Spirit sorts of "rocks" to the right standing straight when kitted out with all his crap. That's annoying. A little floor polish fixed it. But still...
I think it's always a matter of opinion when considering the benefit of Drops. To me the drop hips rate more than just a "slight" benefit. They add a level sophistication to a figure's stance. I'm very detail oriented. So that means a lot to me. I didn't think they were an issue at the beginning, but after noticing my CI Beachhead, and then TF Outback were showing signs of whitelining from minimal articulation (keep in mind, I also boil 'n dip out of the box), I asked my son to bring out his bin, since he actually plays with his, and noticed far too many of his had the same issues. It's fixable, but that's not the point. It's one of the reasons I've even credited [banned] for having the thicker bars on his hip pegs - one of the only areas his product is "better." Also, with Hasbro, it's not just limited to Joes. Even their new Spider-Man figures who have the drop-hip are showing this issue. Then there's companies like Jada, who show with Fei Long, that you can get that deep articulation without having the joint.

Yeah it's crazy when those dripdiwns are thin. My shf spider Gwen twisted right off. That's $86 dollars into the garbage. I'm not even hard with my figures. Aldo one of my breakers came out of the box broken there. Is there even a way to fix it?

Hit it with heat. But that's problematic as well, since you need to heat the plastic enough so that it reconstitutes, but not so hot that it melts or deforms. The whitelining will literally fade if done correctly. For breakage, I've seen people use screws to replace them, especially with Legends, but it just doesn't look the same. And when you account for the time and effort (time is money) needed to fix it, which most of the time involves "cracking" the figure - opening a whole other can of worms - it's cheaper buying a replacement, or finding a "salvage piece" to swap out parts.

425 on a heatgun will help it reconstitute faster. But you'll want to pay careful attention..

I"ve thought about that. Just having someone redo the joints without the drop-hip (3D printing then casting the part). Though with how non-compatible the line is (necks, wrist pegs, butterflies, etc), seems like it'd be a fucking nightmare. Plus, I don't want to have to crack figures to replace that shit, either. lol

Here's some advice I got about having the same problem with the Figuarts Miles Morales
It worked fine and now I have no problems with it

If the hinge pivot inside the crotch part of the drop down hips is to loose (so that the figure wobbles side to side when both feet are placed) the best check for that is some floor polish dripped into the joint (may take a few applications to be effective though).
Floor polish is good for this as it isn't strong enough to glue the part but it is strong enough to provide some resistance. The only busted drop down I've had so far was one that was like that in packaging so I expect the hip bonded to the ball joint and when they tried to shoehorn it into the box it snapped. (This was on a BAT) Not had one bust yet from use. But then I can't really say I've had any hips so stiff that they'd ever be a worry in that regard either. |

Oh it's torn off already. Too late for that now. The thing is, I saw that and did it but set her away for a while and when I came back to her I ripped her leg right off without trying. It worked for a while but as soon as I forgot it was the end of her story.
