What brings us together the most other than our love of nerd stuff? Food. I think I was a food guy long before the term "foodie" was coined or it became cool/adventurous to eat ethnic food. My idea for this thread is for me or anyone to pose a question about what/how/why/when we eat what we do and hopefully there's a discussion before the next question.
To start things off it'll be a simple one: How do you like your eggs? I love eggs in all forms but I prefer them either over medium or scrambled. Though I'll eat them in any way, the styles I order or make the least are boiled in any way including poached. I love deviled eggs but I've never made them for myself. Back when I used to work out a lot I would throw a raw egg into a protein shake. I am not counting omelets because it's all about the egg for this question. |

As a guy that's spent 25 years on a line, I approve of this thread- in fact, I've long considered staring a "Roadblock's Recipes" thread, but never got around to it.
Any way, to the Question at hand: It's funny, but I was literally having this discussion with a co-worker over beers the other night. I explained to her how over the years, breakfast has become my least favorite time of the day to work, because not only are people grumpy AF in the AM, but they are SUPER picky about eggs. I'm an odd one in that I'm the opposite, I like them just about any way imaginable- even over-cooked hardboiled (I'm the same way with potatoes). Over easy, broken and hard, scrambled, you name it. My absolute favorites are poached and soft boiled, though. As an aside, I used to be known for being able to put away a ridiculous amount of food in one sitting. I once ate an entire dozen eggs with a massive steak- the next day was unpleasant, to say the least. I keep it to 2 these days.

Scrambled but I also like them fried as part of a muffin sandwich (Egg McMuffin, for instance).

We're not "out loud" complainers so if we ask for benedicts and the eggs come out pretty much hard boiled, we'll be disappointed but we'll eat them. A dozen eggs...wow. |

OK, thread is about as popular as pickle flavored ice cream so here's the next question:
As far as snacks/treats go, are you a sweet or savory person? This question is geared more towards candies or chips (crisps for some of you) and not so much desserts like cakes and pies.* Savory 1000% for me. I rarely eat sweets. It isn't about health or anything so much for me as I actually do not like the taste of sweet things, especially in the States where our packaged things are overly sweet. *That being said, I also don't really mess with desserts. I'd prefer another appetizer over dessert LOL. |

I like both, although I really wish I didn't like sweet things. lol
I've really grown fond of paprika-flavoured crisps, lately. Doritos does a brand of paprika-flavoured nacho dipping crisps, that are really good to make nachos with.

Here in PA we have a few smaller snack companies called Herr's and Utz that make regional flavors such as Italian hoagie, roast pork sandwich, cheesesteak, and crab fries flavored chips. The guiltiest pleasure for me are Cheetos or cheese curls. |

That's interesting. Are you actually in the UK? Because I've never seen nor heard of Doritos making something like that. We do have unique, sometimes wacky flavors here depending on region though. For example, Doritos has just straight ketchup and mustard (separate) chips.

Generally savory all day. Not much of a chip guy unless we're talking plain ol' tortilla chips, but I'm a HUGE fan of tree nuts, especially almonds and walnuts. However, that being said, chocolate is my weakness, and don't get me anywhere near anything that says "Reese's" on it. Following Mordred's missing of items that are hard to come by on his side of the pond, I miss ACTUAL Smarties and pre-Hershey's Cadbury.

Eggs with pepper, paprika, garlic, chopped onion, on bread.
Savory snacks. Was thinking about G.I. Joe cereal today while doing chores. Anyone remember that? |
