Resolute is just a PG-13 version of the '85 cartoon.
Renegades is it's own thing. Don't care about it at first because of the aforementioned, but I love it now. I've rewatched it thrice this year. Sad that it didn't continue.

Resolute was what every GI Joe movie should have been whereas Renegades is more like GI Joe Retaliation in that they're a small group that knows what is right and is on the run

I love G.I. Joe Renegades. Didn't care much for Resolute.

I see very little similarities between Resolute and Renegades. I wish that Renegades would've been a Resolute continuation series. It's definitely my favorite version of G.I. Joe since the original cartoon. And plus maybe the show would've been more successful had it been a continuation of Resolute.

Resolute was basically a "more grown up" finale to the Sunbow (and I suppose DIC) toons.
Renegades was an attempt at a relaunch that got screwed by a wide array of factors, none of which were the quality of the show. I think if it had been able to be shown on a more mainstream network in a consistent time slot, and it's toys weren't released far out of sync with the show itself due to the glut of Rise of Cobra product causing delays in the Joe line that lasted for years, it might have had a chance at being a real success. |

I don't think Cartoon Network would've been a good place for it either, considering how they kept moving the 2002 He-Man and 2012 Thundercats reboots to different time-slots. Not sure which network could've been better, but that's what they pay the people in charge of these things to figure-out. |

Renegades was ahead of its time. It would have fared much, much better in today's streaming environment vs the streaming settler days of a decade ago.
I'm still bummed it never got a second season. The setup was spot on. |

The Hub was a dumb idea.

But yeah, remember that Resolute basically got dumped to odd hours and super late-night slots, with the exception of the assembled "movie" that actually got a primetime showing? Once? Pretty good indicator of the treatment Joe would have received at CN if they'd even been able to get the network to buy their toon. |

Yep, this was a big part of it. Cartoon Network was practically the only real game in town for cartoons when Renegades hit, and by that point they were far more invested in pushing the properties they actually owned versus licensed properties (a trend that was already starting around the time of the 200X He-Man and well into normal practice by the Thundercats reboot). So GI Joe would've been pretty guaranteed to be screwed on Cartoon Network (Only Star Wars had enough juice to keep a consistent slot on CN). The Hub was a non-basic cable channel, which slashes your potential audience straight out of the gate, and as you say, streaming and cord-cutting weren't quite mainstream yet.
