The two packs didn't sell well. The Stinger DID. The Skystriker didn't hit all unlocks but did sell. But either that budget or an upcoming "relaunch" of the O-Ring line was gonna cut into Classified. The Joe Team, and the bean counters, unfortunately correctly realized there is more money to be had by focusing the budget on Classified and not on O-Ring and Classified. More than likely, Joe just isn't that big of a moneymaker to get the Star Wars treatment of separate budgets for each line. And that's beyond Chris of the Star Wars team being so into Retro that it's his baby, and if it cuts into other lines he'll probably still argue for it all day long. This is just what's gonna happen. Star Wars gets away with 3+ lines because Disney demands it. |

From what we've seen so far, the o-ring line is simply inferior clones of the originals. I get that even though they're expensive they're cheaper than rebuying vintage figures, but you can instantly tell they're not vintage. They don't have that sheen the old figures had. I noticed that as soon as I looked at my Skystriker figures and felt a huge let-down.
The Gentle Giant 12" Jumbo figures had the same issue, Joe and Star Wars. Why go for clones of vintage figures then totally get the finish wrong? It's supposed to be about nostalgia. IMO thats why the o-ring "revival" fizzled out |

No idea how they would pull that off (it would be like 6 feet long, haha) but it certainly would be hilarious. |

Vehicles both don't tend to sell well anymore, and probably cost more to make than the figures. 6" lines are driven mostly by figure sales. Is Hasbro making more selling $30 Stingers or $55 Trouble Bubbles? Probably will sell far more Trouble Bubbles, ESPECIALLY because retailers like Target, Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart are purchasing them to sell in their stores while Hasbro has to sell O-Ring vehicles themselves. |

I would think in package collectors are a small part of the buyers. Otherwise, the Star Wars Retro collection would be DoA with those shitty fake weathered cards with a giant ass RETRO sticker.

Well, if Hasbro is lurking here, I am currently loving my Skystriker, and all the figures that came with it. I would personally be all in on another 3.75" oring haslab.

I ain't dropping a dime on another 3.75 haslab. I feel like they screwed over people with the big talk of relaunching that scale

But, yeah, they missed a trick on that. They didn't even have to make a big deal of it, just make it clear that the option was there, and they'd have gotten over the line. Quote:
Based on my calculations using that chart everyone keeps bringing up, this haslab should reach just shy of 22000 units sold in 40 days.
If everything unlocks before the usual last-second surge, though, I'll be delighted. And then we'll have to deal with the "oh why don't they add more unlocks" questions ad nauseum like we did with the HISS.... Last edited by GeoffDes; 06-06-2023 at 04:26 PM.. |

I’d be all over a new O-Ring Haslab.

Anyway, between the funding and the Kings dumping the Petersen deal within 30 minutes of each other this has been a good day.
